Following his debut success at Carnegie Hall in 2015, Abduraimov has had a meteoric rise to stardom in the classical music world, performing with leading orchestras worldwide. An award-winning recording artist, his most recent album, “Debussy, Chopin, Mussorgsky” was released in January 2021 by Alpha Classics and was touted the “10 Classical Albums you must hear this week” by Apple Music.

CLUB44 RECORDS has announced the new album Carol Sloane, Live at Birdland, which is available on streaming platforms and on CD in stores and online today, Friday, April 8. This release marks the veteran vocalist’s 60th anniversary as a recording artist, and her first album in over a decade. Recorded at the legendary New York jazz boite in September 2019, she was joined by an all-star trio, including the late Mike Renzi on piano, Jay Leonhart on bass, and Scott Hamilton on saxophone. Kronos Quartet returns to New York City with a performance in Zankel Hall on Saturday, April 23 at 9:30 p.m. The ensemble makes a timely statement with an eclectic program featuring George Crumb’s Black Angels, the iconic work that inspired the founding of the ensemble. Mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato brings her latest innovative project to Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage on Saturday, April 23 at 8:00 p.m. Titled EDEN, the program explores our individual connection to nature and its impact on our world and features Ms. DiDonato’s frequent collaborators Maxim Emelyanychev leading Italian chamber orchestra Il Pomo d’Oro. Fusing music, movement, and theater, the program includes works spanning from the 17th to the 21st century by Handel, Gluck, Wagner, Mahler, Ives, and Copland, as well as the New York premiere of Academy Award-winning composer Rachel Portman’s The First Morning of the World, commissioned specifically for this project.

Plano Symphony Orchestra Names New Assistant Conductor

The Plano Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce Shira Samuels-Shragg will be joining Maestro Hector Guzman as Assistant Conductor ahead of the orchestra’s 40th Anniversary Season. Shira is a young American conductor in her final year pursuing a Masters in Orchestral Conducting at the Juilliard School with highly-sought after conductor David Robertson. This full-time position is funded by a generous donation from Tammy and Charles Miller. Shira will assume her role on August 22, 2022.
