Located in the heart of the fashion district, Urban Stages (Frances Hill, Founding Artistic Director; Peter Napolitano, Associate Producer) is proud to present the American Premiere of Oren Safdie's play Unseamly this October. Directed by Sarah C Carlsen, Unseamly will begin performances on October 8; Opening night is set for October 14 through November 1 at Urban Stages (259 West 30 Street) Tickets will be $55 ($35 during previews) and are available at UrbanStages.org. Written by and starring David Sherman as Victor and Nancy Lee as Tricia, the show features some of Montreal's finest, established musicians- Stephen Barry on bass, Andrew Cowan on guitar and John McColgan on drums. The Musical Director is the award-winning Erik West-Millette, a prolific, multi-disciplinary musician, composer and multimedia music director for film, theatre and radio.

Based on Franz Kafka's short story A Report to an Academy (1917), and adapted by director Guy Sprungfrom the original German, Kafka's Ape upends the notion of civilization and what it means to be human in a world of routinized inhumanity. An unnerving satire on 'otherness' and the compounding growth of private military companies, Kafka's Ape stars Howard Rosenstein as keynote speaker - and primate - Mr. Redpeter in a theatrical tour-de-force performance. Alexandra Montagnese enthrallingly plays the silent role of Mrs. Redpeter. Kafka's Ape runs August 7-17 at the Gladstone Hotel, a site-specific venue of SummerWorks.
