Playwright, filmmaker and author Neil LaBute will participate in an upcoming New York Times TimesTalks at the new TimesCenter (242 West 41st Street) on Monday, March 23rd at 6:30 p.m. The event, titled 'An Evening with Neil LaBute and Friends,' will feature Mr. LaBute in conversation about his career with New York Times reporter Patrick Healy and will also include excerpts from his trilogy of plays, The Shape of Things, Fat Pig and his latest work, reasons to be pretty (currently in previews at the Lyceum Theater), selected specifically for the occasion.

Lifetime Television today announced the pick up of Drop Dead Diva, a spirited new comedic drama series that puts a uniquely compelling twist on the age-old battle between brains and beauty. Drop Dead Diva tells the story of a shallow model-in-training who dies in a sudden accident only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of a brilliant, thoughtful and plus-size attorney. Drop Dead Diva is produced by Sony Pictures Television and is set to premiere on Lifetime Television in the Summer 2009. The Casting Society of America has announced more New York celebrity presenters for this year's 24th Annual Artios Awards, honoring excellence in casting. As previously announced, Broadway veteran and comedienne Julie Halston will act as Mistress of Ceremonies, and producer Thomas Schumacher, President of Disney Theatrical Group, will receive the special ‘New York Apple Award' at the New York ceremony.
WET Launches 8th Season With 'A Perfect Couple'

WET (Women's Expressive Theater, Inc.) launches its 8th season with the World Premiere of Brooke Berman's A PERFECT COUPLE. Produced on an Off-Broadway contract, this limited engagement production is directed by Maria Mileaf (THE ARGUMENT at The Vineyard). Previews begin June 7th at the DR2 (103 East 15th Street) where WET became the first theater company in residence last year.
