Producers confirmed today that the Pulitzer Prize winning play DISGRACED by Ayad Akhtar will have a Broadway production this fall, beginning previews onSeptember 27 and opening on October 23 at the Lyceum Theatre, 149 West 45th Street. In addition to the Pulitzer Prize, DISGRACED received Obie and Joseph Jefferson Awards.

The stars gathered last night to celebrate the opening night of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street); the same theatre where the original production of A Raisin in the Sun opened 55 years ago. Off-Broadway's Soho Repertory Theatre was forced to evacuate and cancel its Spring 2014 gala last night, March 31, after a support beam of the second floor balcony at the Angel Orensanz Center cracked around 7:15 p.m. According to New York Magazine, the floor began to sag on the left side of the balcony at the Lower East Side synagogue.
