Lately, my favorite part of Broadway has been the extras - the bonuses - what happens when the shows are dark.

A star-studded line-up of participating artists participated as Our Time feted music legend Carly Simon at their 8th Annual Gala, April 19th, 2010, at NYU's Skirball Center & Rosenthal Pavilion.

Last night, Monday April 19, Second Stage Theatre hosted their annual spring gala in honor of Tony Kiser, a trustee and Co-Chairman of the theater for 29 years. Performers Kelli O'hara and Greg Naughton, Anthony Rapp, Alison Fraser, Pulitzer Prize Winner Tom Kitt, Derrick Baskin, Noah Racey and John Scherer, Becca Ayres, D'Atra Hicks, and Julie Foldesi paid tribute to Kiser in celebration. The evening additionally featured a cocktail reception and dinner. BroadwayWorld was there to capture the performers.

Acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced details for this year's special online Auction in connection with its annual Spring Gala Benefit.

A Slew of Broadway and jazz vocal greats come together for one night only to perform selections from the Breithaupt Brothers Songbook at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater. On Friday, April 16, 2010 at 8:00PM, The New York Pops celebrated Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe at Carnegie Hall with a vibrant program of the timeless music created by the iconic songwriting duo.

During her much too short cabaret concert at the Orange County Performing Arts Center's Samueli Theater, O'Hara dazzled with a mix of familiar Broadway favorites, original songs and personal anecdotes that collectively illustrated her journey towards becoming America's Next Top Broadway Superstar. In just the span of a few short years, Kelli O'Hara has become one of Broadway's most beloved women of musical theater. With three Tony® Award nominations in a row under her belt (The Light in the Piazza, The Pajama Game and, most recently, the critically-acclaimed revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific), the revered stage star is now getting ready to debut an updated version of her much-lauded cabaret act from New York's Café Carlyle at the Orange County Performing Arts Center's Samueli Theater on January 21. The intimate series of concerts will feature not only some familiar Broadway hits but also a few songs close to the singer-actor's heart, some of which can be found on her debut album Wonder of the World. She will also sprinkle the show with a few stories and anecdotes from her life: from her early childhood in Oklahoma to her debut on the Great White Way. O'Hara recently sat down for a quick chat with BroadwayWorld to discuss her early influences, her distinguished Broadway roles, and even some of her guilty pleasures.

The New York Musical Theater Festival honored TV's NY 1 ON STAGE and Sh-K-Boom & Ghostlight Records at its sixth Anniversary Season Awards Gala on Sunday, November 22nd at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street). Folk-pop trio The Sweet Remains have been announced as Top Twelve Finalists in The New York Songwriters Circle 2009 Songwriting Contest. The band's dreamy escape song 'Easy', from their debut CD 'Laurel & Sunset', is the nominated track - they'll perform it live at a finale event at The Bitter End in NYC on November 18th.
