Mosaic Theater Company of DC presents the culmination of its expansive and hugely successful second season with the 2017 Voices From a Changing Middle East Festival. This year's festival is of particular resonance in this 50th year since the Six Day War and the start of The Occupation, and focuses on two taut dramas about the lives, circumstances, and humanity of Palestinians in Israel and Gaza.

Prominent, innovative choreographers, dancers, musicians and poets including musicians Limpe Fuchs and Lea Bertucci, choreographers Rashaun Mitchell and Silas Riener, and poets Joshua Bennett and Monica de la Torre will be in residence as an integral part of Josiah McElheny's outdoor public art project, Prismatic Park, in Madison Square Park from June 13, 2017 through October 8, 2017.
Produced by the Boch Center, the award-winning innovative festival ArtWeek will officially kick off its largest festival ever this Friday, April 28, and run through Sunday, May 7. This season's festival offers more than 250 creative events in over 70 neighborhoods and towns across Eastern Massachusetts. In celebration of the region's rich cultural community, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has issued a proclamation declaring 'ArtWeek' to be observed from April 28 - May 7-a milestone for the creative festival.
Cartography, the second solo album by intrepid cellist Mariel Roberts, comes out Friday, May 19 on New Focus Recordings, with a 10 pm release show that evening at National Sawdust. Cartography features first recordings of dauntingly virtuosic pieces written for Roberts by four New York-based composers: Cenk Ergün, Davi? Brynjar Franzson,George Lewis, and Eric Wubbels, who joins her on piano for his gretchen am spinnrade. Inspired by Roberts' technical wizardry and interpretive élan, her collaborators have created music that takes the cello into uncharted realms, requiring intense concentration, razor-sharp precision, and almost superhuman endurance. Yet in Roberts' hands, the works transcend their technical demands to emerge as deeply moving meditations on time – the cartography of subjective human experience.
As the 2016-17 contemporary music ensemble-in-residence at Cambridge's Le Laboratoire, the Ecce Ensemble completes its French-inspired season with a diverse program juxtaposing American and French music. The concert features chamber performances of masterworks by French composer Philippe Hurel and by American composer John Aylward. The event is also a program of memorials, featuring two of Hurel's significant homage works, Pour Luigi and In Memoriam a Berio, and the world premiere of Aylward's Angelus Novus, an homage to Lee Hyla.
The UNH Department of Theater, in collaborateion with Portsmouth NH's Pontine Theatre and the Leftist Marching Band, presents Vermont's Bread & Puppet Theater comes to The Johnson Theatre at The University of New Hampshire, Durham, at 7pm on Tuesday, April 25. Faust 3, a proletarian rumination on displacement, heaven, and satisfaction in the tradition of Medieval Faust puppet shows and Goethe's epic verse drama.
Into the Empty Sky, devised and directed by Monica Payne, draws from a selection of Wislawa Szymborska's poems as the catalyst for this new work. Szymborska, a beloved Polish poet and Nobel laureate, tended to view her subjects, both large and small, from an unusual, pragmatic, and wry perspective. Into the Empty Sky features six women trapped in a purgatorial landscape; unsure of their surroundings, haunted by the past, and trying desperately to escape.
Pidgin Culture presents the debut of Four Oceans, a trio exploring ritualistic forms of interplay in an improvised context on Thursday, March 30th at 7pm at National Sawdust. A new group, it combines the talents of Old Time Relijun frontman Arrington De Dionyso, Rupert Huber of the famous Viennese trip-hop duo Tosca, and globetrotting drummer/composer Lukas Ligeti. De Dionyso, who is also a painter, performs on bass clarinet and various Indonesian traditional instruments; Huber, on piano and electronics, and Ligeti, on drums. Together, they explore new sonic spaces, evoking distant or nonexistent traditions, references to forgotten or freely invented cultures, and sounds that transport the listener to fantastic worlds the rest of us will never see. It is a music of sparse determination and internal revolution.
The ARK Trio returns to the classical concert series "PREformances with Allison Charney" on Monday April 3rd where they first "preformed" in anticipation of their NYC inaugural concert "Love Resounding" earlier this year. The ARK Trio's commitment to contemporary classical works evidenced by their presentation of six world premieres, was praised by Broadway World who noted "In a city where even the most revered classical music institutions offer new works in relatively small doses, this intrepid program, 'Love Resounding' was noteworthy entirely because it presented a complete program of new classical works."
The Met's new production by director Bartlett Sher also features Virginie Verrez as Stéphano, Elliot Madore as Mercutio, and Mikhail Petrenko as Frère Laurent. Gianandrea Noseda conducts the sumptuous score.

Adventure Stage Chicago (ASC), the participatory arts program of Northwestern Settlement (the Settlement), announces a commissioned play by Lucas Baisch to premiere during its 2017-2018 season, part of the company's drive to formalize its new play creation process and align its mission to Settlement objectives. ASC creates and tells heroic stories about young people in order to engage the community and inspire everyone to be a hero in their own lives. Northwestern Settlement nurtures, educates, and inspires community in order to disrupt generational poverty in West Town and Chicago.

In July, Ajoka theatre will head to India for an exclusive theatre festival as part of its Theatre for Peace programme. The festival titled "Humsaya Theatre Festival" will include five landmark Ajoka plays including: "Lo Phir Basant Ayee", "Kaun Hai Yeh Gustakh", "Dara", "Anhi Mai Da Sufna" and "Kabira Khara Bazaar Mein". This festival is being held from 23rd to 27th July in Tagore Hall, Chandigarh. First Humsaya festival was held by Ajoka in September 2015 in New Delhi.
Magnet Theatre will host a fringe showcase of theatre for early years audiences in Observatory, Cape Town, in May as part of the Cradle of Creativity, the 19th ASSITEJ World Congress and International Theatre Festival for Children and Young People which takes place in Cape Town that month.

B Street Theatre partners with the The Goethe-Institut in Washington D.C. to present short plays written by playwrights across the country and the globe as they explore the challenges of the digital age. The evening will feature an hour long performance and talk-back followed by a social hour with cocktails and music. This event is associated with The Plurality of Privacy Project in Five-Minute plays (P3M5).

This fact might come as a surprise since it deals with an issue which is highly relevant to the Israeli audience: A soldier who's coming back from the war and finds out that he lost everything he had and every door is closed to him.
Amazon today announced that the fourth season of its Emmy-nominated, Gold Parents' Choice Award-winning original kids series, ANNEDROIDS, is scheduled to debut March 3 on Prime Video in the US and UK.
