Wigmore Hall Announces 2019/20 Season

As its programming for 2019/20 again affirms, the spirit of Wigmore Hall is exemplified by both continuity and renewal: artists who have enjoyed decades of association with the Hall and artists it has nurtured into the primes of their careers; the indispensable composers of the past and the innovators and improvisers of today; participatory projects for older people and for children; the irreplaceable immediacy of live concerts and their mediation through technology, bringing them to ever wider audiences via Wigmore Hall's own streaming service or via partners like the BBC.

Punctum Presents Punctum Seedpod Residency

The first Seedpod residency is a collaboration between renowned exploratory music artists and the Inland Concert Series - Rohan Drape, Alexander Garsden, Oliver Mann, and Erkki Veltheim.

Full Cast Announced For Howard Brenton's THE SHADOW FACTORY

Director of Nuffield Southampton Theatres, Sam Hodges today announces the full cast for his production of Howard Brenton's The Shadow Factory which returns to celebrate NST City's first anniversary after opening the space with a sell-out run last year. The cast includes Denise Black (Lady Cooper/Ma Dimmock), Bethan Cullinane (Jackie Dimmock), Joe Tracini (Len Gooch) and Michael Fenton Stevens (Lord Beaverbrook) joining returning cast members David Birrell (Fred Dimmock/Hugh Downing), Catherine Cusack (Lil Dimmock/Sylvia Meinster) and Shala Nyx (Polly Stride). The production opens on 1 February, with previews from 30 January, and runs until 2 March.

The Drama League Announces Complete Cast For DIRECTORFEST 2019

The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks) has announced casting for DirectorFest 2019: The 35th Annual Directors Festival, the only festival in the United States exploring the art of contemporary stage directing. DirectorFest takes place at various locations around NYC: New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street), The Drama League Theater Center (32 Avenue of the Americas), LaGuardia Performing Arts Center (31-10 Thompson Avenue, Long Island City), and Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street). Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival Announces Its 2019 Spotlight On Carrie Mae Weems

Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival today announced that renowned American artist Carrie Mae Weems will headline the 23rd edition of the city-wide event spanning the month of May 2019. Weems' exhibition in five parts, sited at distinct locations across the city, represents the artist's first solo exhibition in Canada.

RLTP Announces Commission Of Adaptation Of Literary Classic With Local Playwright

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) continues to expand its commitment to the development of new works by local playwrights with the commission of a new adaptation of Herman Melville's Moby Dick by playwright Neil Wechsler. RLTP previously produced the world-premiere of Mr. Wechsler's play, Grenadine, winner of the 2008 Yale Drama Award as selected by Edward Albee. Other adaptations by Wechsler include Ibsen's Emperor and Galilean and The Faust Project (an adaptation of both parts of Goethe's Faust, in collaboration with composer Nathan Heidelberger). 

2019 SF Festival Lineup Announced

The San Francisco International Arts Festival has unveiled its program for the 2019 Festival that will run from May 23 - June 2 and have as a central theme The Path to Democracy. The Festival will take place at, and in partnership with, the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture.

Austrian Stage Presents The American Premiere of CANNED MEAT 

Austrian Stage presented the US and English-language premiere of Canned Meat, a staged reading of this funny, touching Austrian drama.  The performance featured Tony Award Nominee Xanthe Elbrick, alongside Teresa Avia Lim, William DeMeritt and Vince Nappo.

Caroline Kennedy Named U.S. International Advisor To Praemium Imperiale Arts Award

The Japan Art Association has appointed Caroline Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, as International Advisor to Praemium Imperiale. Starting in November 2018, she will preside over the U.S. Nomination Committee, recommending candidates for the Praemium Imperiale International Arts Award. Ms. Kennedy will succeed, Ambassador William Luers, former President of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, who served in this role for 18 years and will become an Honorary Advisor.

New Literature From Europe Festival Comes to NYC Next Month

The New Literature from Europe Festival (NLE), New York City's top European literary event, is returning to New York City, bringing leading and emerging voices from 14 different countries in conversation with some of today's foremost authors, editors and translators. For its 14th installment, NLE will use the lens of literature to celebrate cultural diversity and heritage while addressing the current challenges of globalization and migration. Through a wide range of conversations and panel discussions, the festival will also offer New Yorkers a rare opportunity to hear important voices in translation and discover new ones who might not be known yet on this shore.

Daniel Barenboim Conducts The West-Eastern Divan Orchestra At Carnegie Hall 11/8

On Thursday, November 8 at 8:00 p.m. Music Director Daniel Barenboim leads the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra-the lauded ensemble of young musicians from Israel, Palestine, and other Arab countries that Mr. Barenboim co-founded in 1999 with his late friend, the Palestinian literary scholar Edward W. Said-in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. The evening's program will feature Richard Strauss's Don Quixote-with violist Miriam Manasherov and cellist Kian Soltani stepping forward from the orchestra as soloists-as well as Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5. This performance-Carnegie Hall's Annual Isaac Stern Memorial Concert-will be broadcast live on WQXR 105.9 FM.
