Dancewave, a Brooklyn-based dance education nonprofit organization championing accessibility to all, returns to the 92nd Street Y October 7th and 8th with its annual Dancing Through College & Beyond (DTCB) event. The two-day event will connect high school dance students with college and university dance programs throughout the country, serving as a nexus for U.S. colleges and talented young dancers to meet one-on-one.

The Music Center today announced details of its Cuba: Antes, Ahora / Then, Now program, a multifaceted exploration of traditional and contemporary Cuban art from November 30 December 2, 2017. One of only three performing arts organizations selected to take part in the Getty-led Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, The Music Center will present more than 48 world-class Cuban musicians, dancers and visual artists at The Music Center and Grand Park in Los Angeles. With both traditional and contemporary events and performances, The Music Center's Cuba: Antes, Ahora / Then, Now will provide Angelenos of all ages access to the art of Cuba and the opportunity to experience the country's dynamic arts scene. Major support for Cuba: Antes, Ahora/Then, Now is provided through grants from the Getty Foundation.

Los Angeles Performance Practice (LAPP) curates No Side Now, an evening of new experimental dance, presented by Grand Performances as part of its free summer concert series in Downtown Los Angeles. Four L.A. based choreographers celebrate dance's capacity to deflect, refract and repurpose a viewer's presumptions in works that abandon boundaries and blur binaries. Featuring Milka Djordjevich, d. Sabela grimes, Amy O'Neal and Micaela Taylor, the performance takes place at 8p on Friday, August 4, 2017. Like all Grand Performances events, the program is free to all.

Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA (PST: LA/LA) announced a free, daylong party for the public in downtown L.A.'s Grand Park on Thursday, September 14, 2017, to celebrate the arrival of PST: LA/LA. New York City Dance Alliance Foundation Awards $275,000 to 30 Dancers

The NYC Dance Alliance Foundation (NYCDAF), a forward-thinking charity committed to shaping the future lives and training of young dancers, celebrated fireworks of their own on July 3, at the organization's 23rd Annual National Finale. An applicant pool of over 200 young dancers, seeking scholarship funds for further education, participated in a National College Audition at the Sheraton New York Hotel, nestled in the heart of Times Square. The audition consisted of a ballet class taught by New York City Balle tPrincipal Ballerina Tiler Peck, and a contemporary class taught by Martha Graham Principal Dancer Lloyd Knight. NYCDAF awarded a total of $275K to 30 recent High School graduates, already committed to a college program from September 2017.

The Music Center On Location and the Ford Theatres today announced the line-up of a co-presentation featuring groundbreaking music and dance artists for three performances at the recently renovated Ford Theatres. The program includes a dance performance of Awaa by acclaimed choreographer Aszure Barton on Friday, August 18, 2017; a double bill of contemporary dance by the innovative Jacob Jonas The Company and experimental electronic music from Tim Hecker with Kara-Lis Coverdale on Saturday, August 19, 2017; and a one-of-a-kind concert under the stars by singer, songwriter and composer Rufus Wainwright on Sunday, August 20, 2017. The three-night engagement at the outdoor amphitheatre is part of the IGNITE @ the FORD! Series.

As The Music Center wraps up its 14th season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center, Angelenos have the opportunity to see some of the world's finest dancers perform a mix of iconic ballets and new pieces in The Music Center's BalletNOW. Following the popularity of the first BalletNOW in 2015, The Music Center commissioned this highly innovative three-performance program, featuring international ballet sensation and New York City Ballet Principal Tiler Peck as curator. For the fifth year, Grand Park and The Music Center will present downtown's largest July 4th party with Grand Park + The Music Center's 4th of July Block Party on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Angelenos will enjoy entertainment that highlights the sounds of America featuring Jazz, Funk, Blues and Classical artists with DJ sets inspired by these musical genres. The day's festivities include a kids' play area; live music performances; L.A.'s best food trucks; a mobile vendor and activity area; and a fireworks show, which will be shot from the roof of The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, set to Pop and Classic hits along with patriotic music, and visible throughout Downtown L.A. and the surrounding neighborhoods. L.A.'s favorite July 4th block party will cover more than five city blocks from Spring Street to Grand Avenue and from Temple Street to 2ndStreet.
