The 92nd Street Y announces the 2010 line-up for Lyrics & Lyricists, the 40th anniversary season of 92Y's legendary American Songbook series. DEBORAH GRACE WINER returns for her second season as artistic director of the series, as well as one of the shows. Guest artistic directors are LUCIE ARNAZ, DARYL SHERMAN, ROB FISHER, TED SPERLING and ROBERT KIMBALL.

CAPA's 2009 Summer Movie Series, the longest-running classic film series in America, celebrates its 39th anniversary with a lineup of classics, cult favorites, and most beloved films. The 2009 series will run July 17 - August 30, at the historic Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.), and is made possible through the generous support of National City, now a part of PNC.

After the surprising news of Johnny Depp revealing that his dream role would be to portray Carol Channing, star of stage and screen for most of the 20th century, on film, BroadwayWorld wanted to know what the legendary Channing thought of the announcement.

On July 18th, for one night only, Carol Channing returns home to where she belongs in her first appearance after having to cancel late last year due to breaking her leg. Joining the Broadway Icon and San Francisco native are the bawdy, brassy and hysterically funny Carole Cook (and the worlds second Dolly), singer Joyce Aimee and the magical stylings of Walt Anthony. An unplugged evening that follows a simple format, Carol offers memories, humorous storytelling and, of course, several of her signature tunes, including 'Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend,' ' Little Girl From Little Rock' and, of course, the title song from 'Hello, Dolly!' that brings the audience up close and personal with the Ultimate Broadway Baby.

Among the many topics discussed on Sunday June 21st at the Magic Castle's Inner Circle gathering featuring the comedic icon Phyllis Diller, was how she was one of the long and impressive list of Dolly's such as Carol Channing, Ginger Rogers, Pearl Bailey and Ethel Merman to perform at the St James Theatre in Jerry Herman's HELLO DOLLY! 'David Merrick wanted either George Burns or Jack Benny to do Dolly in drag, but couldn't get them so he settled for me,' says Ms. Diller, whom everyone referred to as Madam. 'Can you imagine? Nominations for the 2009 Astaire Awards were announced last night at Elaine?s Restaurant by Michael Riedel of the New York Post. These selections were made by this year?s Nominating Committee; Sylviane Gold (Theater Columnist for Dance Magazine), Anna Kisselgoff (former Chief Dance Critic of The New York Times), Wendy Perron (Editor in Chief of Dance Magazine), Linda Winer (Chief Theater Critic of Newsday) and Damian Woetzel (Former Principal Dancer, New York City Ballet). The producers of the 2009 Astaire Awards, which recognizes excellence in dance on stage and in film, are Patricia Watt and Ron Glucksman.
