The first show of Vineyard Theatre's 2015-2016 season will be the musical comedy GIGANTIC, presented at The Acorn Theatre @ Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street) due to facility upgrades happening at The Vineyard's space in Union Square.
The Community NYC which was founded in 2014, is producing their inaugural theatrical production, Gina Gionfriddo's award winning play BECKY SHAW. The production is directed by Elena Kritter (Producing Director for The Community NYC) who also serves as the Executive Producer. The cast of BECKY SHAW is comprised of graduates of The William Esper Studio. In addition to theatre, The Community NYC also produces short films and hosts events such as readings, cultural excursions and improv jams.
The Huntington Theatre Company opens its 2015-2016 season with the Tony Award-winning musical A Little Night Music, Stephen Sondheim's most romantic and popular work, led by Tony and Olivier nominee Haydn Gwynne, as well as Broadway's Stephen Bogardus and Lauren Molina. Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (after all the terrible things I do; Smart People; Rapture, Blister, Burn; and Becky Shaw) will direct. Performances will run tonight, September 11, through October 11, 2015 at the Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre.

Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern announce that the musical comedy GIGANTIC will open the Vineyard Theatre's 2015-2016 season, which includes the previously announced new plays INDECENT by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel and DOT by the actor and playwright Colman Domingo. The season will also include a Developmental Lab of Christopher Chen's YOU MEAN TO DO ME HARM in the summer of 2016. Chen is the recipient of the Vineyard's 2013 Paula Vogel Playwriting Award. Ten playwrights have won the New York Community Trust Helen Merrill Playwright Awards, honoring established and emerging writers for the theater. The winners are currently producing work on topics ranging from basement dwelling families in the middle of the 21st century to the 19th century all-black community that faced destruction in order to create Central Park.
