Actress, producer, writer and Geffen Playhouse alum Rita Wilson is returning to the theater on Monday, October 8, 2012 - this time to sing. For one night only, the award-winning stage and screen star will perform songs from her debut Decca Records solo album AM/FM, featuring iconic hits from the 60s and 70s ranging from classic love songs to folk-rock tunes. Rita Wilson AM/FM in Concert will benefit both the Geffen Playhouse and The Actors Fund, a national human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, and will be followed by a post-show wine and dessert reception.

Broadway vet and Geffen alum Merle Dandridge (Spamalot, Rent, Aida) will take on the spicy role of Anna Mae, who fakes a Brazilian accent for a slice of fame, and former leading lady of ABC's Man Up, Amanda Detmer, will portray Gloria Mitchell, the white starlet dubbed "America's little sweetie pie" and Vera's first employer. Helmed by award-winning director Jo Bonney, the West Coast premiere cast also features Kevin Carroll (Paid in Full, Being John Malkovich), Spencer Garrett (Iron Man 3, Air Force One) and Geffen alum Mather Zickel (Extraordinary Chambers, Rachel Getting Married).

The Geffen Playhouse's world premiere stage adaptation of The Exorcist features Brooke Shields and Richard Chamberlain in the iconic roles of Chris MacNeil and Father Merrin, respectively, as well as Broadway actor David Wilson Barnes as the troubled young priest Father Damien Karras, Tony Award nominee Harry Groener takes on the role of Chris' charismatic director Burke Dennings and UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television graduate Emily Yetter plays the young Regan MacNeil. The world premiere cast also includes Stephen Bogardus, Manoel Felciano, Tom Nelis and Roslyn Ruff. The play is written by John Pielmeier adapted from the novel by William Peter Blatty, and is directed by John Doyle. Producers Ben Sprecher and Sonia Friedman may bring their production of THE EXCORCIST, adapted from the 1971 novel by William Peter Blatty by John Pielmeier, to the John Golden Theatre on Broadway this fall, according to the New York Post.

The team also includes Tony Award winning scenic/costume designer Scott Pask, lighting designer Jane Cox and sound designer Dan Moses Schreir. Working with Doyle, the design team will be tasked with creating a theatrical experience that engages the senses in a way that is unique to live performance.

The Shakespeare Educational Tour adapted version of "Twelfth Night" will be presented this coming Saturday, April 21 at 11 am at the Geffen Playhouse Gil Cates Theatre in Los Angeles, 10886 Le Conte Ave. The show is geared toward an elementary school audience and has been presented to 16 elementary schools in Ventura County this spring. The 16th season of the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival will feature performances of "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Romeo and Juliet" at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks beginning in June.
