Internationaal Theater Amsterdam has announced that director Eline Arbo has committed herself to the theatre as Associate Artistic Director. Alongside director Ivo van Hove, she will be part of the artistic core of ITA. From January '23, Arbo will be appointed Ibsen Artist in Residence, an initiative of the Philip Loubser Foundation, which gives directors with an international ambition the opportunity to develop themselves artistically.
Award-winning film director Nanouk Leopold returns to Internationaal Theater Amsterdam for her second theatre directing with the ensemble. This season, she directs the classic The Homecoming by Harold Pinter, winner of the Nobel prize for literature. The performance- with Gijs Scholten van Aschat, Maria Kraakman, Majd Mardo and others - will premiere Sunday 13 October at Internationaal Theater Amsterdam.
Multi-talented Englishman Simon McBurney will be directing the classic The Cherry Orchard at Internationaal Theater Amsterdam this season in co-production with the Holland Festival. For his first collaboration with the ITA ensemble, McBurney has chosen one of Anton Chekhov's most famous and beloved pieces. The performance with among others Chris Nietvelt, Gijs Scholten van Aschat and Robert de Hoog - will have its premiere on Sunday 16 June at the Holland Festival in Amsterdam.
