Center Stage Opera concludes its 2013-14 season with one of the most beloved operas of all-time, Puccini's Madama Butterfly. The tragic, tender story of a Japanese girl and and an American naval officer is told through one of Puccini's most poignant, moving scores.

Now that the San Diego Opera has been saved, they present their 50th Anniversary Season. In the 2015 Season they offer 3-opera subscriptions including La bohème, Don Giovanni and Nixon in China, as well as two very special 50th Anniversary Celebration Concerts. Conducted by Douglas Martin with stage direction by Nathan Hull, Madama Butterfly opens tonight, May 9, at The Connelly Theater in New York City and runs for twelve performances through May 25, 2014.

On Friday, May 2nd, Superintendent Alberto Carvalho joined more than 1440 students at the dress rehearsal of Tha?s, Florida Grand Opera's final opera production of the season. “By opening up the dress rehearsals to students, our goal is to provide the younger generation with an up close and personal musical and theatrical experience of the opera art form as well as to foster a new generation of opera lovers,” said Cerise Sutton, Director of Education at Florida Grand Opera. “We are thrilled with the support we have received for our programs from the Miami-Dade County Public Schools from the classroom level all the way up to the superintendent.”

The internationally acclaimed Detroit Symphony Orchestra will join legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli in concert at Joe Louis Arena on Sunday, December 14 at 7:30 p.m. Bocelli will also be joined by conductor Eugene Kohn, soprano Maria Aleida, featured violinist Caroline Campbell and guest artist and Tony Award-winner Heather Headley.
