Bryant Park Announces Performers for Emerging Music Festival

Returning for its fourth year, Emerging Music Festival (EMF) features ten on-the-rise indie rock, pop, blues, and soul bands performing for thousands on the Bryant Park lawn. Almost all artists hail from the greater New York area, making EMF one of the city's largest celebrations of young local bands. Between sets, attendees can purchase beer and wine, eat food from local vendors curated by Hester Street Fair, borrow a free picnic blanket, learn to juggle, and play giant lawn games.

Trinity Rep Announces The 2018 Local Pell Award Honorees

Trinity Repertory Company announced today that three area residents will be honored at its 2018 Pell Awards Gala on Monday, May 21, 2018 in Providence.  Pawtucket-based designer and artist Morris Nathanson will receive a Rhode Island Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts. Longtime Providence philanthropist and arts advocate Jane S. Nelson will receive the Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts. The Pell Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Arts will go to Jeannine Chartier in recognition of her work with VSA arts Rhode Island. Additional honorees will be announced at a later date.

59th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival Wraps Up Weekend of Historic Performances

The 59th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival wrapped up Sunday, September 18 after a weekend of debut artists, returning masters and new favorites. Over 36,600 fans came through the gates of the Monterey County Fairgrounds during the weekend of September 16-18. The weekend featured a festival record-breaking 115 performances of diverse styles of music from around the globe, from tributes and piano trios; big bands to modern jazz, Cuban, blues and fusion groups, mixed with historic conversations, films, and exhibits.

Len Cabral & Charlene Carpenzano to Receive 2016 Pell Awards

?At the 20th annual Pell Awards, Trinity Repertory Company will honor local artists Len Cabral and Charlene Carpenzano with Rhode Island Pell Awards for Excellence in the Arts alongside previously announced honorees The Public Theater artistic director Oskar Eustis, Laurie Eustis and Elizabeth Chace. Twin Sisters Riya & Sara Kapoor Jazz Up Traditional Indian Ceremony at Lincoln Center Tonight

Twin sisters Riya and Sara Kapoor will make their Rangapravesh, or onstage debut, tonight, December 12, 2015 at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall in a show they have entitled 'A Night of Moves.' In the ceremony, the girls will perform the traditional Bharatantayam dance form accompanied by a Carnatic Orchestra, a classical South Indian Musical genre, and a New York Jazz Quartet. This performance will mark the first time this ancient tradition will be done in its current format and choreography.
