American Repertory Ballet Releases Schedule of September 2015 Events

MIDDLESEX and MERCER COUNTIES, NJ - This September, American Repertory Ballet and Princeton Ballet School will be participating in community events throughout Central Jersey: Cranbury Day in Cranbury, Septemberfest in Hamilton, the Hub City Sounds Festival in New Brunswick, and Highland Park's Arts in the Park. 

George Merrick Joins Cast of CLEVER LITTLE LIES Off-Broadway; New Opening Night Set

Producers Joan Raffe, Jhett Tolentino, and Douglas Denoff announced today that George Merrick will complete the cast of two time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro's critically acclaimed new comedy Clever Little Lies. Previews begin Friday, September 18th for a strictly limited 16-week engagement. Opening night, originally announced for Wednesday, October 14th, is now set for Monday, October 12th at the Westside Theatre (Upstairs) (407 West 43rd Street).

Last night Barrington Stage Company presented the World Premiere of Engagements by Lucy Teitler and BroadwayWorld was there. Directed by Louisa Proske (BSC debut), Engagements stars (in their BSC debuts) Amanda Quaid (Irish Rep's The Weir) as Lauren, Kate Loprest (First Date) as Allison, Adam Gerber (George Street Playhouse The Whipping Man) as Ryan, Phoebe Strole (Spring Awakening) as Catherine, and Robert David Grant (Yale Rep Hamlet) as Mark.

The 18th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC presents The Screenwriter Dies Of His Own Free Will, a new metafictional comedy on the art of the deal by FringeNYC veteran Jim Shankman.

Zimmerli Art Museum to Present Radical Soviet Retrospective Display, 10/17

New Brunswick, NJ—July 17, 2015—On October 17, the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers will present the first US retrospective on the groundbreaking work of Soviet conceptual artist Vagrich Bakhchanyan (1938-2009), whose incisive critiques of Soviet propaganda led to unlikely success and an embrace in Soviet popular culture that remains relevant to this day. Accidental Absurdity will feature approximately 80 works from the artist's multidisciplinary oeuvre, including prints, collages, literary compositions, and conceptual performances, all of which highlight the humor that guided Bakhchanyan's artistic experimentations. The exhibition will remain on view through March 6, 2016, and the Zimmerli will serve as the only US venue for this unprecedented presentation.

One of the capital's most beloved annual traditions, the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) Free For All, and one of William Shakespeare's most beloved plays, A Midsummer Night's Dream, are coming together for a major milestone: Free For All's 25th anniversary. Ethan McSweeny directs a revival of his 2012-2013 STC production, which will run September 1-13 at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW).

Broadway Veterans Round Out Starry Cast of SPAMALOT at the Hollywood Bowl

BroadwayWorld has just confirmed the final casting for the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of Monty Python's Spamalot, the parody of the Arthurian Legend which won the Tony for Best Musical in 2005. Those joining the starry company are Broadway vets Kevin Chamberlin as Sir Bedevere, Tom Deckman as Not Dead Fred, and Rick Holmes as Sir Lancelot.
