RIALTO CHATTER: James Cromwell Headed to Broadway in YOU CANT TAKE IT WITH YOU?

Showbiz411 reports that James Cromwell has just signed on to star in the Moss Hart-George S. Kaufman play, You Cant Take It With You. Cromwell reveals few details of the production, only that it will open out of town this summer and is aiming for Broadway as early as the fall. Cromwell was last seen on Broadway in 1992 when he performed in the Royal Shakespeare Company's Hamlet. Prior to that, he performed with the RSC in Broadway's Othello in 1970.

The Acting Company Presents JUNE MOON, 1/24

The Acting Company will present a staged reading of George S. Kaufman and Ring Lardner's 1929 hit musical June Moon filled with fun, frolic and hit songs such as Button Up Your Overcoat. Tony-winner John Rando (Urinetown, The Dinner Party, The Wedding Singer) will direct Kaufman's great grandson, James Patrick Cronin (Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival and National Comedy Theatre) and a cast of Broadway regulars including six Acting Company Alums at the Mainstage Theater at Playwrights Horizons at 7pm, Monday, January 24. Tickets for the benefit evening are $35 and $60 and include a reception with the cast following the performance.

Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced three plays for the company's 45th subscription season today, including a West Coast premiere by David Mamet, the return of Lorenzo Pisoni to the Bay Area, and a dazzling revival of a classic comedy by Broadway luminaries Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman.

42nd St. Moon Announces Upcoming Season Including BABES IN ARMS & STRIKE UP THE BAND

Greg MacKellan, artistic director of 42nd Street Moon, and Stephanie Rhoads, producing director, today announced details of the upcoming 2010-11 season of uncommon musical theater. For its eighteenth season, merriment abounds in a season rife with Lovers, Liars and Clowns at the Eureka Theatre. The great American composers, lyricists, and librettists featured in 2010-11 are Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, Jerome Kern, George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, John Kander and Fred Ebb, George S.
