Casting has been announced for The Hub Theatre's summer production of the Hub artistic director, Helen Pafumi's new play ABOMINABLE.

United States Navy veteran and Washington, D.C. native Paul Hurley joins the company of the new theatrical dance piece Healing Wars, a world-premiere production from choreographer Liz Lerman that explores the aftermath of war.

SPAIN arts & culture and The Shakespeare Theatre Company present a staged reading of Life is a Dream (La vida es sueño) by Pedro Calderon de la Barca, newly translated by Helen Edmundson. In this special presentation at the Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain, the philosophical masterpiece comes to life in a one-night-only staged reading by some of Washington's finest actors.

The Smithsonian's National Postal Museum is hosting Family Fun Day today, May 10. The event will celebrate two different yet uniquely connected themes: Chinese heritage and National Train Day. Through special exhibits, programs and events, the museum will showcase how trains and the people of China have long shared a very special place in American history.

The New York Times said the work's "raw and magnetic dementia seems destined to attract a cult following."

Court Theatre closes its 2013-2014 season with the Chicago premiere of M. Butterfly written by David Henry Hwang and directed by Artistic Director Charles Newell, with choreography by Jamie Guan. M. Butterfly will run today, May 8 - June 8, 2014 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue. Press Opening is Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 8:00PM.
