Jeffrey Herrmann Named New Managing Director of Seattle Repertory Theatre

Seattle Repertory Theatre Board President Becky Lenaburg announced today the appointment of Jeffrey Herrmann as the Rep's incoming managing director, effective July 1, 2014. Mr. Herrmann will succeed departing Managing Director Benjamin Moore, who has led the organization for 28 years.

Ailey II Returns to New York to Celebrate 40th Anniversary Season, Now thru 4/13

Ailey II, the youthful and gifted second company of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, returns to its home, the Ailey Citigroup Theater, from today, April 2 - 13 for a highly anticipated 40th anniversary season - the second led by Artistic Director Troy Powell. For two weeks, audiences will experience 14 performances featuring two dynamic programs, which come on the heels of a successful North American tour to over 30 cities and an array of critically acclaimed performances in Germany and France. Tickets starting at $49 are on sale now.

2013 Writers in Performance Showcase Set for TPAC, 12/6-7

Writers in Performance is a 12-week writing and performance workshop culminating in public presentations. Throughout the course of the workshop, ten talented actors, playwrights, poets and storytellers have explored writing exercises, theater games, improvisation, movement techniques, and ensemble work in a safe, creative environment.

BWW Reviews: THE MERCHANT at George Mason University Shines with Enjoyable Foolishness

The George Mason University school of theater and the Mason Players, in Fairfax, VA are presenting 'The Merchant.' Local professional actor and GMU associate professor Edward Gero both directed the production and wrote it; he adapted Titus Maccius Plautus's ancient comedy and added songs from the early 20th century. The show provided a rollicking good time for the audience.

Laura Zam's MARRIED SEX Opens at FringeNYC Today

Zam Not Spam Productions, as part of the 17th annual New York International Fringe Festival, presents the NYC premiere production of Laura Zam's MARRIED SEX, directed by Shirley Serotsky. MARRIED SEX will play a special engagement at the Fringe Venue #9 Jimmy's No. 43 (43 East 7th Street, NYC). Performances begin today, Saturday, August 10 (3:45 pm) and continue through Thursday, August 22 (7:00 pm).

BWW Interviews: Roberto Villanueva

ROBERTO VILLANUEVA, born in the Philippines, is the Executive/Artistic Director and Founder of BalaSole Dance Company. He trained briefly at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance and received his BA in Dance Performance from University at Buffalo. Acclaimed nationally and internationally for his abilities as a dance artist, Roberto has performed, conducted dance residencies, judged dance competitions, and taught master classes in U.S., Europe, and Asia. He has worked with renowned choreographers such as Dwight Rhoden, Kevin Wynn, Milton Myers, and Eleo Pomare and performed with dance companies such as Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company, Steeledance, Marie-Christine Giordano Dance, Pick of the Crop Dance, and Buffalo City Ballet. Roberto has mentored/worked with artists from renowned companies such as the Limon Dance Company, Elisa Monte Dance, Lucinda Childs Dance, Parsons Dance, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Philadanco, Joffrey Ballet, Donald Byrd/The Group, Ballet Frankfurt, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Twyla Tharp Dance, Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble, The Isadora Duncan Dance Company, Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, and Rockettes.
