A special invitational presentation of Kurt Vonnegut's SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE, a new musical, is set for next Tuesday, April 7th at 3 PM at the Snapple Theater Center (50th Street at Broadway). Music for SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE is by Jed Feuer, with book & lyrics by Adele Ahronheim. The presentation will be directed by Gabriel Barre.

One of the reasons I became enamored of acting as a child was the opportunity to put on period costumes and to imagine I was going back in time. It's one of the giddy pleasures of being an actor-dress up! And there are few periods that are quite as distinctive and fun as the 18th century. In this week's vlog post, I have my first fitting for my John Adams costume with designer Gail Baldoni.

You now have the chance to tie the knot on the stage of one of the most well known musicals in the world, THE FANTASTICKS, the world's longest running musical, famous for its classic tale of true love, Cast members will be marrying couples of all faiths, races, & sexual orientations during the entire summer of 2014 (June 21 - September 5, 2014).

Richard Maltby, Jr. and David Shire are among the top songwriting teams working in the musical theatre today. Their shows written together, including Starting Here Starting Now, Baby, Closer Than Ever, Big, Take Flight, Love Match, and How Do You Do I Love You will be celebrated by Broadway's best in story and song. Expect original cast performances recreated, as well as brand new interpretations, and even a world premiere song!

West End star and international recording artist Jeremiah James will be joining the cast of The Fantasticks, the world's longest running musical, on Tuesday, October 29th, just weeks after its milestone celebration of 20,000 performances in New York. Mr. James will assume the role of El Gallo, which was performed by George Dvorsky.

Kimilee, Jarlath, and Emilio have been working on this piece for over two years and Jarlath and Emilio for even longer. It takes an awful lot to get a show produced, especially in NYC! Previously known as Salute a Tutti which means 'Health to all' certainly does represent the story, however, in working on the piece, we decided on Miracolo . The story takes place on an island called 'Miracolo' where, at a beautiful spa many miracles take place (including true love) and also in Roma in a hospital and surrounding piazzas where miracles can also happen.

Following an unprecedented thirty-one show run, SONDHEIM UNPLUGGED, the acclaimed and award-winning cabaret series, continues on Sunday, October 20 at 7pm at 54 Below. Sondheim Unplugged is currently celebrating the third year of it's smash run, having begun this journey of celebrating Sondheim in July of 2010.

This month, UNPLUGGED will welcome just announced guests George Lee Andrews and Harvey Evans, as well as special guests Dee Hoty, Pamela Myers, Sarah Rice & Alice Ripley. The cast also includes cabaret and Broadway veterans Trent Armand Kendall (Broadway's Smokey Joe's Cafe, Into the Woods),Award-winning vocal group Marquee 5, T. Oliver Reid (Broadway's Sister Act, The Color Purple), Julie Reyburn(MAC/Bistro/Nightlife Award winner) and Lucia Spina (Broadway's Kinky Boots, South Pacific). Sondheim Unpluggedis hosted by 54 Below's Director of Original Programming, Phil Geoffrey Bond, with Musical Direction by Joe Goodman. In 2011, Sondheim Unplugged received the 2011 Bistro Award for Outstanding Cabaret Series, and was nominated for the 2011 MAC Award.

I cannot imagine a better production. With Broadway talent of operatic caliber and Glenn Casale's all-encompassing direction, this summer's Sacramento Musical Theatre production of "Show Boat" is Music Circus at its absolute best.

Generally considered America's first true musical, the show has not been at Music Circus in 12 years, and this is its first time at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. Originally meant to be a one-night performance of the hit Off-Broadway musical revue, Starting Here, Starting Now, with lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and music by David Shire, The York Theatre Company will conclude the second of two encore performances this evening, December 16th at 7:30 p.m. at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).
