Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in association with Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University is bringing leading Broadway star and multiple Tony and Grammy Award-winner Patti LuPone and her critically acclaimed concert Don't Monkey with Broadway to the Conservatorium Theatre on Wednesday 27 June 2018.

On this day in 1970, the original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's Company opened on Broadway. 

Madison Lyric Stage, an award-winning, professional theater company serving the Connecticut Shoreline, announced that it is presenting a young artist production of the Stephen Schwartz musical Godspell, featuring a cast of 10, all 25 years old and younger, with a band of six musicians.

Phone rings, door chimes, in comes Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's musical Company, which closes out The Ringwald Theatre's 11th season exactly on the theatre's 11th birthday-May 11. Winner of 6 Tony Awards in 1971, Company also happens to celebrate a birthday. Bobby is 35 and single. His friends are married and nosy. Bobby isn't getting any younger. And his friends won't let him forget it. Many of Sondheim's most celebrated songs (The Ladies Who Lunch, Being Alive, Getting Married Today, Another Hundred People) come from this impressionistic concept musical.

Ghostlight Records has announced that PRINCE OF BROADWAY Original Broadway Cast Recording is available in physical, digital and streaming formats today, Friday, April 20. The 16-page CD booklet includes color production photography and liner notes by Hal Prince and David Thompson.

Western Connecticut State University will present the Tony Award-winning musical comedy 'Company' next month in the Studio Theatre of the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the university's Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.

Cape Rep Theatre is celebrating its 33rd season with an exciting line up of plays and musicals, all of them Cape Cod premieres, and one world premiere by a local playwright. The Indoor Theater season will open May 9th with the George Furth and Stephen Sondheim musical Merrily We Roll Along, followed by the world premiere production of The Tuna Goddess, by local theater artist, Jade Schuyler. Next up is the Broadway sensation, Mamma Mia!, music by the beloved super group ABBA and book by Catherine Johnson, followed by the 5-time Tony Award winning Fun Home, book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, music by Jeanine Tesori, based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel. The season will close with the Cape Cod premiere of Shakespeare in Love, based on the screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard, adapted for the stage by Lee Hall.

This June, renowned singer and actress Patti LuPone will bring her critically acclaimed concert, her love letter to the Great White Way, Don't Monkey with Broadway to the Sydney Opera House and Arts Centre Melbourne.

Directors David Roth (SHS '84) and Kerry Long (SHS '97) bring back one of their all-time favorite shows to the Staples stage: Stephen Sondheim's semi-autobiographical Merrily We Roll Along. With a brilliant 'Broadway-style' score and the deep insight one expects from any Sondheim endeavor, the musical is a spirited and moving cautionary tale for anyone who has ever pursued a dream.

Savvy, urbane, with a brilliant score and dazzling lyrics, Sondheim's exploration of the joys and travails of marriage remains a masterwork of the musical stage. The current revival, directed by Linda Sturdivant, at Biddeford's City Theater gives a classy account of this complex work.
