August is looking very gay in Philadelphia with the fourth annual GayFest! - a festival of LGBT theater presented by Quince Productions at Plays & Players and two spaces in the Adrienne Theatre. This year's festival, August 5-23 at various theaters in Philadelphia, is bigger than ever, with three special events, four mainstage plays, and five one-night stands (of the theatrical variety, that is!).

92Y announces a discussion with the stars and creative team of Mothers and Sons, the acclaimed new play recently nominated for two Tony Awards - Best Play and Best Actress in a Leading Role. Panelists include four-time Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally, and director Sheryl Kaller (Tony nominee) along with stars Tyne Daly (a Tony and six-time Emmy Award-winner) and Bobby Steggert (Tony nominee), along with moderator Perez Hilton.

On April 27, 2014 a private reading of the upcoming musical adaptation of BRAVE NEW WORLD took place in an undisclosed Midtown Manhattan venue.

Grammy and Emmy Winner JOHN McDANIEL and Tony Nominee BILL RUSSELL have joined the creative team of BRAVE NEW WORLD: THE MUSICAL, currently in development, as Co-Composer and Lyricist. They join a team that already includes Ben Andron as Book Writer, Jonnie Rockwell as Co-Composer, and Tony Nominated Director, Sheryl Kaller. John McDaniel is also attached as Music Director.

In Noel Coward's time, and when one of his last plays, A SONG AT TWILIGHT was written in 1966, it must have been shocking to have the possible outing of a closeted gay man be the driving force of a plot. In 2014, when such a play is just one of a plethora of stories written by men, featuring male characters and very often, gay men's issues, we have to wonder why two of Connecticut's theaters have chosen to include a revival of it on their stages this season (currently it's at Hartford stage through March 16. It moves to Westport Country Playhouse April 29), especially when there are so many other great plays out there just begging to be produced.

The play, directed by Robert Coppel, runs from February 7th through March 2nd, Todays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors (62+), and $18 for students with valid ID, and are available on the website www.mainstreetplayers.com and at the door. According to Deadline, following the recent success of its freshman series REIGN, the younger-skewing network is working on bringing Cathy Marie Buchanan's novel THE PAINTED GIRLS to the small screen. Tony-nominee Geoffrey Nauffts will pen the script, with PUSHING DASHIES' Dan Jinks executive producing.
