A previously announced event at the Gallo Center for the Arts has taken on added star power with the news that performers from the Fox Television hit "Glee" will be appearing. The television show's casting director Robert Ulrich of Modesto, and his wife, actress Kim Johnston-Ulrich of Ripon, are to be honored in April at a "Hometown Heroes" event, a continuing series at the Gallo Center that salutes area residents who have achieved national success in their fields.
The NHTP Senior Repertory Company presents Antigone, running May 18-27, in a translation by Lewis Galantiere from the play by Jean Anouilh, which was adapted from the original Greek play by Sophocles. Antigone, the daughter of Oedipus, is sentenced to execution for burying her dead brother after her uncle, King Creon, declares that his body is to be left for the vultures. The prohibition against desecrating the dead is almost as old as war itself; and recently brought swift punishment to American Marines in Afghanistan.

The New Hampshire Theatre Project presents Dreaming Again, written and directed by Genevieve Aichele with music by Agnes Charlesworth, April 13-15. Dreaming Again is an original dramatic play based on stories of Granite State immigrants and refugees who have resettled in New Hampshire over the past 100 years. Drawn from interviews with 30 different contemporary immigrants, as well as literary and historic sources, Dreaming Again celebrates both the joys and difficulties of arriving as a stranger and learning how to be a citizen in your new home. As a recent immigrant says so eloquently: Like a child, I am teaching myself how to dream again.
