Just last night, Tectonic Theater Project celebrated Tectonic At 25!, a benefit performance celebrating 25 years of groundbreaking theater. The star-studded evening, directed by Tectonic Theater Project founder Moises Kaufman and hosted by and starring two-time Academy Award winner Jane Fonda, took place at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place, New York, NY 10012). 

GLEE alum Darren Criss is developing a musical workplace comedy to be titled ROYALTIES for the FOX network.

Chicago's Halcyon Theatre presents dirty butterfly by debbie tucker green, a co-production with Chicago's The Blind Owl. Artistic Director of The Blind Owl, Azar Kazemi, directs this U.S. Premiere. dirty butterfly runs now through December 10, 2016 at Halcyon Theatre (press opening Nov. 10), located in residence at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3253 W. Wilson Avenue, on Chicago's north side.

NBC announced this afternoon that the star of Broadway's THE FRONT PAGE, Nathan Lane, would be stopping by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Friday, November 11th.  Lane will be joined by Genevieve Angelson and Matt Seitz & Alan Sepinwall. Also featured that evening is Hannah Welton sitting-in with the 8G Band.

The RENT 20th Anniversary Tour, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning landmark rock musical written by Jonathan Larson, stars Danny Kornfeld as 'Mark Cohen,' Kaleb Wells as 'Roger Davis,' Skyler Volpe as 'Mimi Marquez,' AaRon Harrington as 'Tom Collins,' David Merino as 'Angel Dumott Schunard,' Katie LaMark as 'Maureen Johnson,' Jasmine Easler as 'Joanne Jefferson, and Christian Thompson as 'Benny Coffin III.' I had a rare experience at the theater recently - I went to see a musical I knew nothing about and was absolutely charmed by it. Stephen Schwartz's WICKED may be the 10th longest-running show on Broadway and one of the most 'popular' musicals of recent years, but his 1976 musical THE BAKER'S WIFE never made it to Broadway and is rarely produced. I'm grateful that Artistry's resident Music Director Anita Ruth was finally able to do her 'dream show,' and what a dream it is! The absolutely lovely score, the touching story about love and forgiveness, and the cast, led by everyone's favorite Bradley Greenwald and soon-to-be everyone's favorite Jill Iverson, make this a dream show indeed. Head to Bloomington before November 12 and take a chance on an unfamiliar musical, you just might fall in love.

Grannies with top-notch cooking skills kick off Food Network's holiday season with the six-episode primetime competition series CLASH OF THE GRANDMAS, premiering Sunday, November 13th

Next Monday, November 7th, THE FRONT PAGE's John Goodman will stop by the show along with Tony nominee Andrew Rannells, who will discuss his starring role in Broadway's FALSETTOS.

Tomorrow night, for the first time a straight play will open at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts as part of the Fairwinds Broadway in Orlando series. However, this play is unlike nearly anything else you've ever seen before. Based on the 2003 book by Mark Haddon, THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME dives deep into the mind of Christopher Boone, a special boy intent on getting to the bottom of a neighborhood mystery. With creative choreography, lights, and technology, the play takes on a life of its own. The show won five Tony Awards in 2015, including Best Play, and last week, I spoke with Gene Gillette, who plays Christopher's father Ed while the tour was in Greenville, SC, to help explain why this play is so special in a theatrical world so focused on musicals. 

The 2016 Rob Guest Endowment Grand Final Concert will be held on Monday 14 November at the Sydney Lyric Theatre. The concert will be hosted by Lucy Durack and Penny McNamee, who both worked with Rob Guest in his final show,Wicked. Guest artists performing at the concert will include pop sensation Paulini, principal cast members from Aladdin, the Helpmann Award winning Molly Barwick, Sasha Rose, Georgia Taplin and Bella Thomas who originated the role of Matilda in Australia, past winners Samantha Leigh Dodemaide and Blake Bowden, 2015 Rob Guest Endowment winnerDaniel Assetta, and cast members from Dream Lover - The Bobby Darin Musical.
