Best in Shows, a star-studded cabaret evening benefitting the Humane Society of New York, was held last night at Feinstein's/ 54 Below. Tom Viola, Executive Director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, was awarded the Humane Society of New York's Sandy Fund Award, in recognition of his deep concern and support of the needs of rescued animals, presented by Tony Award-winning actress and animal rights champion Bernadette Peters.

Second Stage Theatre's New York Premiere production of NOTES FROM THE FIELD: DOING TIME IN EDUCATION, the latest work created, written and performed by groundbreaking theatre artist Anna Deavere Smith with music composed and performed by Marcus Shelby and directed by Leonard Foglia, will open on November 2, 2016 at the Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd Street). Previews will begin on October 15.

The beloved Hans Christian Anderson tale, The Princess and the Pea, comes to life on the South Orange Performing Arts Center stage on October 15 at 2 p.m. This fun, and funny, musical tells the story of a Princess who is introduced to the King and Queen's court just in time to vie for the Prince. However, her arrival in a rainstorm leaves the Queen to doubt her worthiness as a match for her son. This story of acceptance and love and, of course, a 'Pea' will prove that staying true to who you are is the key to true happiness.

Cal State Fullerton's production of John Patrick Shanley's Italian American Reconciliation is directed by Professor Maria Cominis and runs October 7-30, 2016 in the Hallberg Theatre on campus. Italian American Reconciliation is a tale about Huey, a man who is safely divorced from his shrewish first wife (who shot his dog), but he feels he cannot regain his 'manhood' until he woos and wins her one more time.
