Happy Birthday Barbra Streisand! Streisand has appeared on Broadway in I CAN GET IT FOR YOU WHOLESALE and FUNNY GIRL, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Streisand won the 1968 Academy Award for Best Actress for the role in the film version of the musical. Her next two movies were also based on musicals, Jerry Herman's Hello, Dolly!, directed by Gene Kelly (1969), and Alan Jay Lerner's and Burton Lane's On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, directed by Vincente Minnelli (1970). Additionally, she has won two Academy Awards, eight Grammy Awards, one special Tony Award, five Emmy Awards including one Daytime Emmy, an American Film Institute award, a Peabody Award, and is one of the few entertainers who have won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award.

An American in Paris bursts into life on the West End stage for the first time when ChristopherWheeldon's multi award-winning new Broadway musical comes to London's Dominion Theatre next spring. 

Pittsburgh CLO will host an exclusive evening with Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris (Fun Home) and co-creator/star of DISASTER! Seth Rudetsky at the CLO Cabaret on May 23. This exciting fundraiser will support Pittsburgh CLO's continuing commitment to the fostering of new musicals for Pittsburgh and beyond.

On Tuesday evening April 12th, The Dance Enthusiast presented an informal evening of dance and conversation. The 4th in a series called Enthusiastic Events!, Dance: Broadway Stage and Screen consisted of three engaging speakers and two short dance performances.

Rhythm in Motion, which was held at Theater at the 14th Street Y in Manhattan, featured the work of artists in residence under Artistic/Executive Director of ATDF, Tony Waag.

Figaro! Figaro! Figaro! It's hard not to sing his name over and over again as the barber did effortlessly in Pittsburgh Opera's production. Having produced the show twelve times in its history, Pittsburgh Opera delivered a captivating twist on the Rossini classic, The Barber of Seville.

The splash-hit West End stage production SINGIN' IN THE RAIN will make its way to Adelaide in December for a season at the Festival Theatre. The Australian tour premieres in May at Melbourne's Her Majesty's Theatre, followed by seasons in Sydney, Brisbane before making its way to Adelaide and then Perth.

Today in 1957, Brigadoon opened at the Adelphi Theatre, where it ran for 47 performances. Brigadoon is a musical with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Songs from the musical, such as 'Almost Like Being in Love' have become standards. The story involves two American tourists who stumble upon Brigadoon, a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years. Tommy, one of the tourists, falls in love with Fiona, a young woman from Brigadoon. The original production opened on Broadway in 1947 and ran for 581 performances. A 1954 film version starred Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. A 1966 television version starred Robert Goulet and Peter Falk.

Based in Los Angeles, the internationally recognized Tremaine Dance Convention and Competition celebrates 35 years of inspiring young dancers with its continuing 2015-2016 National Tour across the United States, a star-studded 35th Annual Convention Gala Event and National Finals this summer in Orlando, a new book expected in June 2016, and the upcoming Behind the Curtain documentary scheduled for completion in 2017. Bradley Moore's Music City Theatre Company debuts its 12th production tonight - Amy Herzog's 4,000 Miles - starring Taylor Novak, Terry Occhiogrosso, Britt Byrd and Cate Eunyoung Jo. Playing Nashville's iconic Darkhorse Theater through April 9, the show is an eagerly anticipated part of the 2016 theatrical season.

Happy Birthday Debbie Reynolds! Reynolds regularly appeared in movie musicals during the 1950s and had several hit records during the period. Perhaps her most high-profile film role was in Singin' in the Rain (1952) as Kathy Selden. On Broadway, Reynolds has starred in such shows as Irene, Debbie, and Woman of the Year. The Pasadena Symphony closes out its Singpoli Classics Series with Gershwin's An American in Paris on April 30 with both matinee and evening performances at Ambassador Auditorium. This French-themed season finale pays homage to Gershwin's iconic Jazz Age composition and features the youngest-ever Van Cliburn silver medalist, Joyce Yang as soloist on Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Minor. Don't miss the Pasadena Symphony's salute to the City of Lights in this must-see final concert of this blockbuster season.

Maize & Blue on Broadway is a one-night-only benefit concert on May 16, 2016 at 7PM at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street) to celebrate the University of Michigan and its renowned Musical Theatre Department, as well as honor its longtime chair, Brent Wagner, who is retiring in May after 32 years of being the department's heart and soul.  

His middle initial stands for Quinn, but close friends call him Colby Q. Colby has recently joined the cast of Off-Broadway's song and dance extravaganza, TRIP OF LOVE where he surfs, shimmies and shakes to the pop sounds of the 60's. A graduate of Oklahoma City University, he's appeared on Broadway in WICKED, toured with Radio City, and danced on television in SMASH and BOARDWALK EMPIRE. Get to know a little more about Colby as he talks dance, underwear, and working for Madonna.

I first met Noah Racey when I was directing the 2004 Nightlife Awards at Town Hall in New York. He was performing with his co-star from Never Gonna Dance, Nancy Lemenager. If you've never seen him dance, you haven't lived. I got to chat a bit about his stay down here in DC.
