This July 4th, America's national Independence Day celebration kicks off our country's 236th birthday, as A CAPITOL FOURTH on PBS welcomes a brand new host, Emmy Award-winning television personality Tom Bergeron. According to the Associated Press, Matthew Broderick will join previously announced Kelli O'Hara to perform from the 2012 Tony-nominated musical NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT at the event.

The stars of the upcoming revival of JEKYLL & HYDE, Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages) and Grammy Award Nominee Deborah Cox (Aida), will host the 4th annual National High School Musical Theater Awards on Monday, June 25th at 7:30pm at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre (200 W 45th St). The show will feature 60 of America's most talented young musical theater performers vying for the "Jimmy Award" for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor. Winners will be awarded college scholarships and other prizes will be announced live.

Chanhassen Dinner Theatres announced its exclusive arrangement to produce the Midwest Premiere of XANADU on the Main Stage. XANADU was named "Outstanding New Musical" for the 2008 Broadway season by the Outer Critics Circle. Chanhassen's XANADU will open to one week of preview performances from tonight, June 1 - 7, with an official Opening Night on Friday, June 8.

The first annual Blumenthal Performing Arts High School Musical Theater Awards culminated Sunday, May 20, at a gala award celebration where winners in 13 categories were announced and nominees for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Musical performed live on stage at the Belk Theater. The Blumey Awards were presented by Wells Fargo.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences last night celebrated the life and career of legendary dancer, director and choreographer Gene Kelly on the 100th anniversary of his birth. Film clips, personal remembrances and an exploration of the technology Kelly used to change the look of dance on film were featured at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, hosted by Kelly's widow, film historian Patricia Ward Kelly.

Hot off another winning season as host of the hit TV series, DANCING WITH THE STARS, Bergeron will lead an all-star cast in a patriotic evening of unrivaled musical performances, topped off by the greatest display of fireworks anywhere in the nation. The multi award-winning event will feature acclaimed Broadway and television star Megan Hilty (SMASH); singer-songwriter Javier Colon (winner of THE VOICE); R&B superstars Kool & The Gang; four time Tony-nominated Broadway star Kelli O'Hara; the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly; plus a tribute to Team USA honoring the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams (additional talent to be announced).
