After a 13-month process Abarukas, a contemporary dance company full of power and communicative dance style, presents No Man is an Island. The world premiere of No Man is an Island is January 23 and 24, 2016 at the Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center in Dumbo, NYC. This newly renovated theater, formerly St. Ann's Warehouse, seats 300. Choreographer and founder, Yoshito Sakuraba is no stranger to creating evening-length work. His first full-length piece was performed to sold out audiences at Manhattan Movement and Arts center in 2013.

Ballet Idaho announced that two company members have been promoted to the rank of principal dancer. Elizabeth Keller and Adrienne Kerr join returning principal dancers Phyllis Affrunti and Andrew Taft, along with 15 other company members and three apprentices/trainees to complete the roster for the 2015/16 season.

Kansas City Ballet Artistic Director Devon Carney today announced the appointment of two new members, Elysa Hotchkiss and Thom Panto, and two new apprentices, Lilliana Hagerman and Naomi Hergott to the Kansas City Ballet Company. Segerstrom Center for the Arts has announced the faculty for its American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School that begins its full 36-week school year on September 14, 2015 and runs through June 11, 2016. The Center has added classes to accommodate the growing enrollment.

Schimmel Center at Pace University is proud to present the World Premiere of Gelsey Kirkland Ballet's Don Quixote, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa to the music of Ludwig Minkus. This production of the Petipa/Minkus ballet is derived from the 1902 version staged by Alexander Gorsky for the Imperial Ballet of St Petersburg.
On March 27 & 28, 2015, Co-Artistic Directors, Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov presented, at Peter Norton Symphony Space, a double bill of Marius Petipa's ballets of another era, well chosen for their young company, a large number of whom are students at the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet. Harlequinade, choreographed in 1900, to the music of Riccardo Drigo, is a classic comedy based on the characters of Commedia Dell'Arte. Cavalry Halt, created in 1896, to the music of Johann Armsheimer and Johann Strauss, is rarely performed today. I had never seen it.
