A year and a half ago, it was in no way certain that the quirky musical comedy CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND was going to make it to television. After hitting a developmental snag as a 30-minute pilot for Showtime, creators Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna repackaged the series as a 44-minute show for Showtime's sister network, The CW.

Brian J. Smith (The Glass Menagerie, The Columnist, Come Back Little Sheba) has signed on to star in the independent feature The Passing Season. Gabriel Long is making his feature debut, directing the script he co-wrote with Matthew-Lee Erlbach. Rebecca Atwood will produce. Shooting is set for this month in Rhode Island. Smith will play 'Sam,' a professional hockey player whose career comes to an abrupt end. He returns to his hometown, reconnects with a group of high school friends, and attempts to escape into an earlier, simpler time in his life.
