The Arkansas Country Music Awards, held Monday, June 1, at Reynolds Performance Hall in Conway, delivered a night filled with unforgettable memories, sincere tributes, and legendary performances. Co-hosted by country music historian and journalist Charles Haymes and Ashton Gill, the evening celebrated some of Arkansas's most influential contributors to country music.

If you decide to attend Circuit Playhouse's production of PAGEANT in the next few weeks, and if you find yourself blushing at some of the eyebrow-raising humor, there's no need for alarm: Pink cheeks will blend right in, as the stage, many of the dresses and gowns, and much of the make-up are redolent with that color. However, the musical tends more toward the 'purple' at times, with innuendo, knowing looks, and pregnant pauses. Nonetheless, Robert Longbottom's lightweight little satire (with Book and Lyrics by Bill Russell and Frank Kelly and Music by Albert Evans) is a relatively harmless (and highly enjoyable) outing.

Theatre Memphis' Lohrey Stage will soon be home to the story of Conrad Birdie, a famous rock-n-roll star, in the production of the lively family musical classic Bye Bye Birdie. Playing August 19 - September 11, 2011, the plot surrounds Birdie being drafted into the army and Albert Peterson, his agent, and Albert's secretary, Rosie, concocting one final national publicity plan before Conrad's induction.
