COMEDY CENTRAL announces Best Bets for week of December 15th!

Are you an Alpha or a Beta? You can decide this month when the four senators-turned-unlikely-roommates of Alpha House and the endearing, young tech industry entrepreneurs of Betas come back to Amazon in 11-episode series. Alpha House debuts tonight, November 15 and Betas will follow on November 22.

Amazon Studios today announced that Cynthia Nixon ('Sex and the City'), Amy Sedaris ('Strangers with Candy'), Wanda Sykes ('Curb Your Enthusiasm'), and Julie White ('Go On') will appear in the Amazon Original Series 'Alpha House,'

Four senators-turned-unlikely-roommates, four young entrepreneurs attempting to make it big in techland, a kid scientist and her robots, an alien artist, and a whimsical fox searching for adventure—are all getting back into character.

Four renowned achievers will be honored for their lifetime accomplishments with the 34th Annual Common Wealth Awards of Distinguished Service. The awards recognize individuals who have enriched modern society in a range of human endeavors. The 2013 Common Wealth Award winners are: Alan Alda, celebrated actor, director and screenwriter, for Dramatic Arts; David McCullough, preeminent author and historian, for Literature; Jane Pauley, leading broadcast journalist, Today Show contributor and author, for Mass Communications; Martin Sheen, film legend, social activist and humanitarian, for Public Service.

American Lyric Theater presents the next installment in its popular series, The Living Libretto, at the National Opera Center, tonight, February 6th, 2013. Featuring guest actors from the Broadway and off-Broadway stage, each event is the culminating reading of extensive libretto workshops conducted for new operas currently being written by ALT Resident Artists.

Amazon is bolstering its all-star lineup as it keeps the greenlight on for original content. According to Deadline, TV and film star John Goodman has signed on to star in ALPHA HOUSE, one of Amazon Studios' six new pilots.

Amazon Studios, the original film and series production arm of Amazon.com, today announced that it plans to produce pilots for six original comedy series. The series come from a diverse set of writers including newcomers to Hollywood and industry veterans with notable credits and awards. This marks the studios' first pilot production since expanding into original programming development earlier this year.

Ms. Nixon will read selections from Emily Dickinson's letters. The event will take place on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. at The Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse (Samuel B. & David Rose Building, 70 Lincoln Center Plaza, 165 West 65th Street, Manhattan).

Manhattan Theatre Club has just announced that Tony and Emmy Award winner Cynthia Nixon will return to MTC to star in the Broadway premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play WIT by Margaret Edson, directed by MTC's award-winning Artistic Director Lynne Meadow. The limited engagement of WIT will begin previews Thursday, January 5, 2012 and open Thursday, January 26, 2012 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
