NYC Gay Men's Chorus Announces New Board Leadership

Big Apple Performing Arts, home of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus and the Youth Pride Chorus, has announced its newly elected Board of Directors. Elections held last week confirmed eleven new members and one second-term member each with an impressive set of skills and a wide range of notable professional and personal experience.

DePaul University to Host Reading of THE LARAMIE PROJECT, 11/18

On November 18 (6 PM), the Theatre School at DePaul University will host a staged reading of THE LARAMIE PROJECT by Moises Kaufman and The Members of the Tectonic Theater Project, directed by Theatre School adjunct faculty member Carolyn Hoerdemann. The reading will be followed by a moderated question/answer session, and breakout discussions.

The weekend of October 11, 2013, marks the 15th year since gay college student Matthew Shepard was abducted, tied to a fence, beaten and left to die by two assailants in Laramie, Wyoming. His murder claimed national and international attention and has become one of the most widely known anti-gay hate crimes in American history. Following Ford's Theatre's evening performance of the play The Laramie Project, the public was invited to participate in a candlelight vigil in memory of Matthew Shepard's life and in recognition of National Coming Out Day. Ole Miss Football Players Interrupt Campus Production of THE LARAMIE PROJECT with 'Borderline Hate Speech'

According to reports, around 20 Ole Miss football players interrupted Ole Miss Theater Department's co-production of THE LARAMIE PROJECT -- Tectonic Theater Project's play about a gay man murdered in a hate crime in Wyoming -- with homophobic slurs on Tuesday night, October 1. Director Rory Ledbetter told the Daily Mississippian the audience's interjections included 'borderline hate speech.'
