Now celebrating the 23rd anniversary in Houston and the 26th season since its inception in Brussels, Belgium, Dance Salad Festival promises another gathering of world-class performers. Famous in their own countries, classical, modern and contemporary dance companies/dancers share the Dance Salad Festival stage to form a mix of movement and compelling choreography.

Legendary ballet costume designer HOLLY HYNES and costume and scenic designer ZACK BROWN are among the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients which were just announced by TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts. Ms. Hynes was selected to receive the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Brown will receive the Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. The awards are presented through TDF's Costume Collection. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 20, at 6:30pm, at the Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street).

It's that time of year again folks; it's time for the Kennedy Center's annual production of the holiday perennial ballet The Nutcracker. Rather than present the same production every year, Kennedy Center invites a different company to perform its own take on the Tchaikovsky classic. This year, local audiences will be treated to the Kansas City Ballet and today's subjects, Racheall and Ryan Nye, are living their theatre lives as part of this production, which runs November 22nd through the 26th in Kennedy Center's Opera House. Rachael trains all of the kids for the production and Ryan is performing the role of Drosslemyer.

An elegant genesis for dance happened throughout the past February weekend, and particularly on one Friday night. Here in the heart of Milwaukee's theatre district, finely dressed small girls or teenagers accompanied by their parents together with grown girls attached to their equally interested partners arrived at the historic Milwaukee theater in anticipation of Milwaukee Ballet and Artistic Director Michael Pink's Genesis: International Choreographic Competition.

By now, many people throughout the four-state region are familiar with the 'Destination ARTS!' initiative, which has transformed several vacant storefronts in downtown Waynesboro into full-scale art galleries. Each weekend, a wide variety of artwork is on display and live music can be heard on the sidewalks and in the streets. Now, organizers are preparing to add an extra ingredient to their success.

Be there for the birth of, not one, but four new ballets created as part of the intensive 3-week process of the National Choreographers Initiative. Director Molly Lynch has invited four choreographers of note - Gabrielle Lamb, Barry Kerollis, Garrett Smith and Philip Neal - as well as sixteen professional dancers from ballet companies across the country, to participate. The project culminates in a public performance, NCI Discovery '14 that showcases the excitement of new creation.
