Citizens for Access to the Arts was joined by NYC Arts Organizations and NYC elected officials yesterday at City Hall to express their opposition to Time Warner Cable, Inc's decision to drop Ovation. Numerous individuals from arts organizations joined in chants including 'Save Ovation,' 'Time Warner Cable - do the right thing!' 'Don't be a scrooge Time Warner Cable,' 'Save the arts!' Citizens for Access to the Arts is calling for a press conference tomorrow, Wednesday, December 19th to announce their opposition to Time Warner Cable, Inc.'s decision to drop the only cable network focused on the arts, Ovation.

The following events have been announced at Lincoln Center.

The third season of Lincoln Center's White Light Festival continues in November with "The Spirit of the Body," a work by dancer/choreographer Malavika Sarukkai showcasing her exquisite interpretations of South India's classical dance, Bharatanatyam. Accompanied by four musicians from Madras, India, the performances are presented in the intimate setting of the Baryshnikov Arts Center.

New inscriptions to the nation's only Nobel Monument were unveiled on Thursday, September 27, by Parks & Recreation Commissioner Veronica White, Ambassador of Sweden to the U.S. Jonas Hafstrom, Ambassador of Norway to the U.S. Wegger Chr. On Friday, October 21, 2011, Angela Lansbury; New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn; New York City Council Member Gale Brewer; Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal; Assembly Member Richard Gottfried; Congressman Jerrold Nadler and The Actors Fund co-hosted a kick-off event for the Seniors Community Survey, an online survey designed to better understand the quality of life of older New Yorkers in the Clinton/Hell's Kitchen and Chelsea Neighborhoods. The event, held at American Airlines Theatre, marked the beginning of the online survey of seniors 60 years and older who reside in the zip codes of 10001, 10011, 10018, 10019, 10036 on Manhattan's West Side. Findings of the survey, being conducted from mid-October through December 31, 2011, are intended to help provide information concerning seniors' needs, identify gaps in senior services and help community leaders organize and advocate for resources and services for seniors in these neighborhoods.
