Monday night, a kickoff dinner was held honoring the 2017 Directors Project fellows. The dinner took place at the home of Broadway producers and BroadwayHD co-founders Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley. The guest of honor of the evening was Moritz von Stuelpnagel (director of Present Laughter, Hand To God), who is a Directors Project alumnus himself.
The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks) has announced the eleven exceptional stage directors who have been selected as the 2017 Directing Fellows of The Drama League Directors Project.
Molly Beach Murphy, whose plays have been developed at New York Theatre Workshop, Williamstown Theatre Festival and Ars Nova and Loren Beri's new musical will be read and performed as a part of the NYMF Developmental Reading Series on July 12th, 16th, and 17th at Playwrights Horizons South Studio (416 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues), directed by Gabriel Vega Weissman and featuring Grace McLean (Natasha and Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812, Brooklynite) in the title role of "Neil deGrasse Tyson".
With over 200 shows presented at FringeNYC Festival and 900 at Edinburgh Fringe, it's hard to be in the know about what's worth seeing. Playwrights Brian Reno and Gabriel Vega Weissman will present Loose Canon as part of the 19th annual New York International Fringe Festival- FringeNYC. Brian and Gabriel love a bargain. They drink beers on the couch instead of at the bar. One day, looking for something cheap to do, they entered a playwriting contest. Our fledgling artists wrote their first draft in the cradle of inspiration... the dining hall of Gowanus IKEA. Two years later they are excited to bring their work to life.
