Montalvo Brings 'Bohemian Rhapsody' And More In 'Ultimate Queen Celebration'

Montalvo Arts Center will present The Ultimate Queen Celebration as part of its 2018-2019 Carriage House Theatre Concert Series. Garnering 13 million views on his YouTube cover of "Somebody to Love," Marc Martel not only sounds dead-on like Freddie Mercury, but also embodies the heart-and-soul Freddie poured into every song. Handpicked by Queen's Roger Taylor and Brian May, Marc Martel will take on lead vocals for this Queen tribute featuring dozens of songs that Queen made famous, including "Killer Queen," "Radio Gaga," "Bohemian Rhapsody," and more. The Ultimate Queen Celebration will be presented at 7:30pm, Thursday, November 15 at the Montalvo Arts Center, 15400 Montalvo Rd., Saratoga. The NJCU Center for the Arts presents the annual NJCU Alumni Jazz Big Band Concert today, September 14 at 6:00 p.m. on the J. Owen Grundy Pier, Exchange Place, in Jersey City. Conducted by retired NJCU Professor Richard Lowenthal, this free concert will feature GRAMMY Award-winning guest artist Paquito D'Rivera in a tribute to WBGO Newark, the world's flagship jazz radio station, and the 80th anniversary of the Benny Goodman Orchestra's landmark performance at Carnegie Hall.

Kennedy Center Announces 2019 DIRECT CURRENT Programs

DIRECT CURRENT, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts's two-week celebration of contemporary culture, returns for a second season. Training its focus on new works, interdisciplinary creations in which artistic worlds collide, and creative responses to topical concerns, the 2019 spring immersion showcases some of the most provocative, original, and pioneering voices in the arts today. DIRECT CURRENT takes place on March 25-April 7 at the Kennedy Center and beyond, extending throughout the District of Columbia through collaborations with a number of alternative venues, to expand the growing audience for contemporary culture in the nation's capital.
