The OAS AMA | Art Museum of the Americas and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art of the University of Oklahoma present Libertad de Expresión: The Art Museum of the Americas and Cold War Politics, an exhibition showcasing a vibrant period of OAS art collecting. Curated by Mark Andrew White of the Fred Jones, Jr. Museum of art, this exhibition demonstrates the AMA's function as a critical branch of the OAS, promoting the arts and cultures of OAS member states through its collections and programs. This exhibition is part of an initiative led by AMA's current director, Andrés Navia, to internationally promote the museum's permanent collection and its relevance to the history of modern and contemporary Latin America and Caribbean art while linking it to fresher and more current critical analyses and perspectives.

Marissa Mulder, who has been collecting rave reviews and awards in bunches over the past couple of years, debuted her new solo show, Instincts (with musical director Nate Buccieri), to a packed Metropolitan Room on Friday night January 30. It was the first effort in her new 'Residency' at the Chelsea club, not a surprising status given her steady climb up the cabaret singer hierarchy. Mulder offered an eclectic program of songs by artists from Cy Coleman to Radiohead, representing 'a snapshot of where [her] life is right now, a week away from 30.' Her distinctive vocal sound-sincere yet playful and sounding like a combination of a bell and a trumpet-is uniquely expressive, perhaps from 'living instinctively for quite a while now,' as she said in one her of her rare moments of interstitial patter.

The schedule for this summer's Lincoln Center Out of Doors festival, which runs from July 20 to August 10, was announced today by Bill Bragin, Lincoln Center's Director of Public Programming. Nearly 100 free performances will take place across the plazas of Lincoln Center during three weeks. A woman in Paris is suing the University of Oklahoma's Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art to try to retrieve a painting. The painting, 'Shepherdess Bringing In Sheep,' is an 1886 work by French impressionist artist Camille Pissarro. It was stolen from Raoul Meyer, a Jewish businessman in Paris, during the Nazi occupation of France.
