The Klezmatics Featuring Joshua Nelson Come to The Broad Stage

The Klezmatics, known for their unique blend of melodic mysticism and improvisational activism, return to The Broad Stage to turn their music inside out on Thursday, March 29 at 7:30pm. Performing alongside the "Prince of Kosher Gospel," Joshua Nelson, this evening will expose the complexity of Jewish identity, Black identity and human identity.

YIDDISHFEST Offers The Whole Mishpukhe A Renaissance In Contemporary Jewish Culture And Language

The press has called Tony Award-nominated director, Broadway actress and singer Eleanor Reissa the "Yiddish Beyonce." Yiddish movies have been showcased at Sundance and film festivals world-wide. Mario "Moishele" Alfonso teases audience with his lecture entitled, "Making Yiddish Sexy Again." Some 5,000 Yiddish words are now officially part of the English language.

AMERICAN CRIME Actor Takes Stage for Adaptation of Junot Díaz Novel

Repertory Theatre is hosting Literature to Life/Young Audiences of New York to present a stage adaptation of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. This Pulitzer Prize-winning 2008 novel written by Junot D az was adapted and directed for the stage by Elise Thoron and will be performed by Elvis Nolasco from the Emmy-winning ABC show American Crime. This collaboration across the coasts is the first time Book-It has hosted another company in its 28-year history.

Entertainers to Be Honored at Actors' Temple Annual Gala YOU AIN'T HEARD NOTHING YET

Tony Babino, performer Carol Ostrow and the Actors' Temple Board of Directors are celebrating their 101st year honoring the historic entertainers who have passed through their doors, with their annual gala YOU AIN'T HEARD NOTHIN' YET. Entertainers past and present will commemorate this mecca of modern Jewish culture, including Tony Babino, George Bettinger, Sir Frank London and Friends and special guest Star of the Yiddish Theatre, Joanne Borts. The gala takes place on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 6:30 pm in the Barbra Streisand and Milton Berle rooms of another hub of entertainment greats, the Friar's Club (57 East 55 Street, NYC). The Klezmatics Bring A Happy Joyous Hanukkah to VPAC

Annual NYC Event This Sunday: Taste of Jewish Culture

That's the theme of this year's Workmen's Circle Taste of Jewish Culture Street Festival, which features dozens of food purveyors putting their individual ethnic spins on traditional Jewish foods, on Father's Day, Sunday, June 18 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM onSixth Avenue between 48th and 49th Streets. The festival will also feature modern takes on traditional Jewish foods; dance; music; and family-friendly activities, including arts-and-crafts.
