Rehearsals Are Underway For UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL Starring Sally Wingert

Rehearsals are underway for Underneath the Lintel, starring Sally Wingert. As part of Theater Latte Da's commitment to developing new works, this production of Glen Berger's acclaimed play features original music commissioned by Latte Da from Grammy award-winning composer Frank London, founding member of The Klezmatics. Theater Latte Da Artistic Director Peter Rothstein directs the production with Music Director Dan Chouinard and vocalist Natalie Nowytski. Performances begin May 30 at the Ritz Theater (345 13th Avenue NE in Minneapolis). Single tickets go on sale May 1 and can be purchased at Latteda.org or by calling 612-339-3003.

First Annual Global Brass Festival Comes to the McKittrick

Hot Jazz Productions and The McKittrick Hotel join forces with the World Music Institute to present the first annual New York Brass Festival, a ten-hour marathon celebration of brass band music. The Festival is scheduled for Sunday, June 10 from 2:00 pm to midnight on two stages at Chelsea's McKittrick Hotel (530 West 27 Street,) home of the immersive theater spectacle Sleep No More.

City Parks Foundation SummerStage Presents YIDDISH UNDER THE STARS

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) and City Parks Foundation's SummerStage will present Yiddish Under the Stars, a cavalcade of ensembles and individual performers, leaders of the international revival of Yiddish music. The free concert will take place on Wednesday, June 13, at SummerStage in Central Park, 72nd Street near 5th Ave. Headlining Yiddish Under the Stars will be Grammy-winning composer, bandleader, and trumpet virtuoso Frank London and his Klezmer Brass Allstars; world-renowned Yiddish troubadour Daniel Kahn and his renowned band The Painted Bird; iconic mandolin and clarinet star Andy Statman and his ensemble; internationally beloved Cantor Magda Fishman; Tony-nominated director, actress, and concert artist Eleanor Reissa; klezmer rock superband Golem; exotic Jewish music ensemble Pharaoh's Daughter, led by singer/songwriter Cantor Basya Schechter; and, composer/conductor Zalmen Mlotek, artistic director of the NYTF. The concert will feature a wide selection of Yiddish musical creations, contemporary and traditional, along with exciting collaborations among this wonderful lineup of stars. Get ready to sing and dance in the aisles.

A Dutch librarian embarks on a quest to find out who anonymously returned a library book; a travel guide that is 113 years overdue. A clue scribbled in the margin of the book and an unclaimed dry-cleaning ticket then take her on a mysterious adventure that spans the globe and the ages. The librarian, who has never left her native town of Hoofdrop, grows determined to track down the offender. As she travels around the world on her obsessive search, she finds herself on a journey that not only unlocks ancient mysteries, but also moves her to new revelations about her place in the universe.

Book-It to Face Fear with Love in THE BRIEF WONDROUS LIFE OF OSCAR WAO

Starting next month, Book-It Repertory Theatre is hosting Literature to Life/Young Audiences of New York to present a stage adaptation of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. This 2008 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel written by Junot Diaz was adapted and directed for the stage byElise Thoron and will be performed by Elvis Nolasco ("American Crime", "She's Gotta Have It"). This collaboration across the coasts is the first time Book-It has hosted another company in its 28-year history.
