Now celebrating its 23rd Anniversary, The Blank Theatre's Nationwide Young  Playwrights Festival has chosen 12 plays by young playwrights aged 12-19 from seven different states. These plays will be presented by professional actors and directors in this year's festival at The Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, June 4-28.

The Blank Theatre has announced a special event, free and open to the public, on Friday, May 16 at 8pm celebrating the 22nd anniversary of its Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival, which this year will run June 5-29 at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood.

This year 14 students were selected from dozens of applicants from across the United States to participate in the 2013 Young Playwrights, Inc. Urban Retreat. The Urban Retreat is a nine day intensive in New York City that culminates in a staged reading off-broadway at the Lucille Lortell Theatre. The 2013 Urban Retreat Young Playwrights are: Ari Bell, Leah Bell, Jacqueline Crispino, Frank Garland, Jordan Eli Goldberg, Candace Hartsuyker, Leah Lane, Mollie Lipkowitz, Erin Neitzel, Dahlia Pham, Melina Schmidt, William Stieglitz, Irene Tapert, and Connor Woods.

Seattle Public Theater (SPT) to premiere Salesgirls of Nowhere, directed by Gregory Award-winning Seattle playwright Wayne Rawley (Live! From the Last Night of My Life, Beating Up Bachman, and SPT's Attack…of the Killer Murder of Death!) and written in collaboration with members of the SPT Youth Ensemble.
