Walnut Street Theatre is pleased to announce that it will celebrate multiple honorees this year with the 2011 Edwin Forrest Award at its landmark 202nd Anniversary Gala.

As part of the run up to the 2011 Tony Awards, The American Theatre Wing (Theodore S. Chapin, Chairman, Board of Trustees; Howard Sherman, Executive Director) used the opportunity of the yearly Tony Nominees Press Reception - held just 24 hours after Tony nominations are announced - to solicit some key thoughts from newly minted nominees on their lives and careers so that emerging artists everywhere might benefit. Over 35 nominees were interviewed, including Judith Light, John Larroquette, Victoria Clark, Forrest McClendon, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Mark Rylance, Casey Nicholaw, George C. Wolfe, and Rory O'Malley. The 'Cues' videos will be rolled out individually on the ATW website at http://americantheatrewing.org/springboardnyc/cues2011.php between now and awards night on June 12, 2011. These moments mirror the experience of the American Theatre Wing's SpringboardNYC program, where 36 selected students starting their careers hear directly from working artists. Past SpringboardNYC mentors have included Allison Janney, Neil Patrick Harris, Anika Noni Rose, Paul Rudd, and Kathleen Marshall. The Wall Street Journal reports today that THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS may return to Broadway in the Spring for a repeat run just before the Tony Awards. According to the report, once THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS shutters in on Sunday, the producers are 'planning to put together a national tour for the musical and [hope] to bring it back to Broadway for a limited run before the Tony Awards in the spring.'

Deadline.com reports today that Precious mastermind Lee Daniels has his eye on a screen adaptation of Kander & Ebb's SCOTTSBORO BOYS, playing out its final performances at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway. According to the report: 'While The Scottsboro Boys ends its Broadway run on December 12 at the Lyceum Theatre, there are flickers of hope that the last collaboration between songwriting legends John Kander and Fred Ebb will have a feature future. I'm told that Oscar-nominated Precious director Lee Daniels has seen the show several times and is in early conversations to develop it.'
