Cal State Fullerton's 2016-2017 season opens with the 2003 Pulitzer Prize winner Anna in the Tropics, written by Nilo Cruz, directed by Fidel Gomez and runs September 23-October 9, 2016 in the Young Theatre on campus.

Inspired by the real-life experiences of ex-gang member Alex Sanchez, Culture Clash's Ric Salinas stars in the story of a Salvadoran immigrant who tries to reclaim his family while letting go of his gangbanger past. PLACAS: The Most Dangerous Tattoo by 2015 Doris Duke Artist Award-winner and celebrated spoken word artist Paul S. PLACAS:  The Most Dangerous Tattoo, the celebrated play by Paul S. Flores, will make its Richmond debut on Thursday, January 21, 2016. Performances take place at East Bay Center for the Performing Arts Iron Triangle Theater.

Karen Zacarias' new telenovela-inspired comedy Destiny of Desire receives its world premiere at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, kicking off the company's 66th season with dramatic storytelling and comic flair. Zacarias, an inaugural resident playwright of the theater's American Voices New Play Institute whose previous credits include The Book Club Play and Legacy of Light, collaborates with renowned director Jose Luis Valenzuela, Artistic Director of the Latino Theater Company, to bring the Latin-American telenovela genre to life on stage. Destiny of Desire runs September 11-October 18, 2015 in the Kreeger Theater.
