The Omaha Community Playhouse is announcing its Alternative Programming series for the 2018-19 season. Alternative Programming includes a series of staged readings, special events and play development collaborations. All events are held at OCP.
Eight Local Stars To Take Stage In Philadelphia Theatre Company's SWEAT

Philadelphia Theatre Company announces the director and full cast for the Pennsylvania premiere of Lynn Nottage's Sweat. This Pulitzer Prize for Drama winner explores Reading Pennsylvania's shrinking industrial economy and shares the fear, tragedy and hopefulness of a community being forced to accept inevitable change. The production will kick-off the first produced season under new Producing Artistic Director Paige Price. Justin Emeka directs a cast filled with local stars and Barrymore Award-winners who have earned extensive theatre, film and television credits. Sweat will run from October 12 to November 4, 2018 at Philadelphia Theatre Company's stage at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, 480 S. Broad Street. CT Rep Theatre Offers American Sign Language Interpreted Performances

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) announces that each show of its 2018 Nutmeg Summer Series, "Disaster!", "Sweeney Todd: A Musical Thriller in Concert," and "Jesus Christ Superstar," will have performances interpreted in American Sign Language (ASL) through a partnership with UConn's Center for Students (CSD) with Disabilities. ASL interpreted performances will take place during the Saturday matinee performances on June 16 for "Disaster!", June 30 for "Sweeney Todd: A Musical Thriller in Concert", and July 21 "Jesus Christ Superstar".

CMT today revealed that some of music's biggest stars will perform brand-new songs for the first time ever on television when the “2018 CMT Music Awards” premieres LIVE from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena tomorrow, June 6 at 8pm ET/PT. The performances will not only feature the newest songs that will become the soundtrack to the summer, but they will use the CMT stage to introduce their new music to the world.

Acclaimed artist Stephen Powers, featured in the Brooklyn Museum and throughout the U.S., along with popular street artist Lady K-Fever, will join nearly 300 public school students in what is one of the largest public displays of student art in New York City. LEAP's Rising Voices: Student Public Art Exhibition will be held Tuesday, June 5, at the northwest end of Union Square, 11 am to 1 pm. Students from eight New York City public schools (11 classes) in all five boroughs will display ordinary cafeteria tables turned into social justice murals advocating for issues of concern to the middle school students.

A stunning tale about the search for beauty in desperate circumstances, the Steppenwolf production features the original cast members, Omar Metwally (Humayun) and Arian Moayed (Babur), whom Amy Morton directed in the Off-Broadway world premiere which received rave reviews when it premiered in 2015 and won the 2016 Obie Award for Best New American Play.
