Over the next two plus decades, he's released cassette-only recordings, split 7-inches, and a dozen albums of uncommon insight, detail, and political awareness with his band Bright Eyes, under his own name, as a member of Desaparecidos, as leader of the The Mystic Valley Band, and with the Monsters of Folk supergroup.

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will present its first-ever Banners and Cranks Mini-Festival on April 14 and 15, 2017 in conjunction with its current exhibit Banners and Cranks: Paintings and Scrolls in Performance. The Banners and Cranks Mini-Festival will present cranky and cantastoria performances created by puppeteers, musicians, and artists from throughout the Northeast, with productions geared for adult audiences on Friday, April 14 at 7 p.m. and family-friendly shows on Saturday, April 15 at 2 p.m. All events will take place at the Ballard Institute, located at 1 Royce Circle in Storrs Center. 'The Banners and Cranks Mini-Festival,' Ballard Institute Director John Bell said, 'is an exciting new addition to our performance programming, and we are very happy to bring these shows to Storrs Center.'

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts celebrates the musical legacy of Henry Mancini, one of the world's greatest composers, conductors and arrangers, on Saturday, April 1, 2017. From 'Moon River' to 'The Days of Wine and Roses' to the 'Peter Gunn Theme,' the music of Henry Mancini has helped define American film and television soundtracks for nearly five decades, and earned the legendary composer four Academy Awards, twenty Grammy Awards and numerous other honors, including a U.S. Postage Stamp. The evening not only honors Henry Mancini, but also celebrates Ginny Mancini and the Mancini family with a special performance by the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami-their first Los Angeles appearance since their move to Florida-with all proceeds benefiting the artistic, educational and outreach programs of The Wallis.
