Light the Candles! Get the Ice Out! Blow the Bugle! The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and preserving musical gems from the past, has announced Tony Award-nominee Stephanie D'Abruzzo (Avenue Q), Christine Pedi (NEWSical the Musical), and Stephanie Umoh (Ragtime) will lead the parade of the special Summer 2017 Musicals in Mufti presentation of the hit Broadway revue Jerry's Girls.

The hit Broadway musical Guys and Dolls opened Friday, July 21 at the State Theatre. The classic Frank Loesser musical is based on the stories of famed journalist and storyteller Damon Runyon and tells the story of gamblers looking for love and a floating dice game in the streets of New York's Broadway theatre district. The musical is produced by Placer Community Theater and runs weekends through August 5th.

When David Moscow made his 'Big'-screen debut in 1988, it was huge. Penny Marshall had plucked this precocious, 11-year-old kid from the Bronx to play the younger version of Tom Hanks' character, Josh Baskin. This comic fantasy-fable about a boy who literally became 'Big' overnight, was a giant box-office hit. Moscow was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor in a Comedy. And in that same season, another kid won for Best Young Actor in a Drama: Christian Bale for 'Empire of the Sun.'

Normally, the 45 actors in the cast of the cast of Placer Community Theater's current production of Guys and Dolls are the ones on stage pouring out everything they have for appreciative audiences. But on Wednesday night, roles were reversed as the cast sat in rapt attention in the audience. The focus of their attention: actress Faith Prince who came to Auburn to talk with them about her career and to work with them on their acting technique. Scroll down for a photo!

Jason's numerous credits include over 45 recordings, the original casts of DO BLACK PATENT LEATHER SHOES REALLY REFLECT UP?, STARDUST, AND A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING, and, a personal favorite, the voice of the Lucky Charms leprechaun!

Gail Payne, an acclaimed cabaret performer from Indianapolis, will make her debut at The Cabaret in Indianapolis before taking her show on the road to Davenport's Piano Bar in Chicago and to the famed Feinstein's/54 Below in New York City this fall.

Just some of the original songs you will hear at The Duplex Cabaret and Piano Bar today, June 30, as Aussie cabaret songstress Analisa Bell transforms the cabaret theater into her own subway car and takes you for a ride with "Off the Rails: Songs of the Subway". Bell has lived in New York City for 2 and a half years, moving to the Big Apple after a successful cabaret career in her native Australia, and in that time, she's seen and experienced all the quirkiness the subway has to offer.

The sixth edition of Concert For America was held at The Curran in San Francisco on Saturday, June 24. The concert was 'an evening of entertainment with stars of film, television, music, comedy, and Broadway raising funds for five national organizations working to protect civil rights.' In an ironic twist, 'Off the Rails: Songs of the Subway', has gone 'off the rails'. Due to a signal malfunction (aka unforeseen circumstances), this tongue-in-cheek cabaret about the trails and tribulations of the MTA has been re-scheduled to Thursday, July 27 at 9.30pm, from it's previous Friday, June 30 date.

SiriusXM Broadway host Seth Rudetsky and husband James Wesley present the sixth edition of CONCERT FOR AMERICA: STAND UP, SING OUT! at San Francisco's Curran (445 Geary Street) tonight, June 24th at 7:00pm, during the annual San Francisco Pride weekend festivities.

Broadway veterans Carole Demas, who originated the role of Sandy in Grease, and Sarah Rice, who originated the role of Johanna in Sweeney Todd, have teamed up to celebrate the music of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, composers of THE FANTASTICKS, 110 IN THE SHADE, I DO! I DO! and more. Demas and Rice have based their show on their 50 years of work and personal relationships with Jones and Schmidt. 

So, as we say in show business, 'That's a Wrap!' The dizzying creative and emotional 'hangover' of what transpired in Broken Arrow and Tulsa, Oklahoma, last week, is still lingering... whether it's the students or the faculty. We have all been in constant communication, continuing to be in awe of what actually happened to ALL of us, between June 11 to 17. The work week was intense, long, and difficult, but the rewards and what we all got back, did more than make up for it.

As you know, Kristin Chenoweth's Broadway Bootcamp wrapped up its third year on Friday night, with a live show at The Kristin Chenoweth Theatre in the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center, in her home state of Oklahoma. The show also gave birth to the first-ever KRISTI Awards (named for Kristi Dawn Chenoweth) … the star's name commonly used, while growing up.

I just returned from Kristin Chenoweth's Broadway Bootcamp, my first. How did this happen? Well, it all happened in Kristin's Dressing Room, at the Lunt-Fontanne, when we were doing MY LOVE LETTER TO BROADWAY. Her 'bootcamp' for young, aspiring performers had already had two seasons and she was looking to really 'change it up.' The rest is history, as they say, and 'I' can say, in all honesty, that it was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had and those 43 kids and a handful of young interns, are in our hearts... forever.
