The Burbage Theatre continues its inaugural season in its new home at 249 Roosevelt Ave. in Pawtucket with a raucous production of Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIIGHT, OR WHAT YOU WILL. Harold Bloom has called TWELFTH NIGHT 'the funniest of all Shakespeare's plays.' While I'm not sure Bloom is a reliable guide to comedy, the mostly youthful Burbage cast has managed to fully mine the humor in this piece. 'We're eager to bring (TWELFTH NIGHT) to life, and we've got the team to do it,' said director Jeff Church, who is also Artistic Director at the Burbage.

The Burbage Theatre Co announces the penultimate production of their seventh season (2017- 18) with William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, or what you will, directed by Jeff Church, which opens previews on Friday February 23, and closes on Sunday March 18.
This season's hit Off-Broadway play, Afterglow, written and directed by S. Asher Gelman, puts a new block of tickets on sale through July 1, 2018. Afterglow began performances on June 12, 2017 and this extension will allow the show to run beyond their one-year anniversary and celebrate NYC Pride.
Classic and contemporary will meet in concert Saturday, March 24, at 8 p.m., in the Virginia G. Piper Theater at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. That's when the Zurich Chamber Orchestra performs Vivaldi's famous cycle of violin concertos, The Four Seasons, along with a recent take on that famous score, Vivaldi Recomposed, a rewrite of The Four Seasons by German-born British composer Max Richter (1966 - ). Zurich Chamber Orchestra music director Daniel Hope will serve as violin soloist for both pieces.

Subscriptions for this celebratory 40th Anniversary Season go on sale at 10 a.m. Moe Septee founded the POPS in November 1979 with a concert at the Academy of Music. Celebrated jazz pianist Peter Nero conducted the POPS from 1979 until 2013.

Highly respected drummer and prolific composer Bobby Previte continues his Terminals trilogy with Rhapsody, an acoustic song cycle on the subject of transit and migration. Subtitled Terminals Part II: In Transit, Previte's newest work is scored for acoustic sextet and features fellow composer-improvisers guitarist Nels Cline, harpist Zeena Parkins, pianist John Medeski, alto saxophonist Fabian Rucker, and vocalist/er hu player Jen Shyu. This latest major work, released on RareNoiseRecords in February 2018, comes on the heels of Previte's powerful November 2016 RareNoise release, Mass, a nine-part work scored for choir, pipe organ and heavy metal trio.
Reacting to Wendy Davis' 2013 anti-abortion in the Texas Legislature, playwright C. Denby Swanson, author of 'The Norwegians,' resolved to write a play about a woman's right to choose and the effect of this wedge issue on female friendship or 'sisterhood.' The result was a darkly comedic drama, 'Gabriel: A Polemic,' in which four tightly-bonded women, confounded by issues of abortion and free will, are divided unexpectedly by a crisis of faith at their weekly dinner. The Drilling Company, which developed the play in a series of readings and workshops since 2014, will mount its world premiere March 9 to 26 at North of History, a new performance/gallery space founded by Gene Kaufman that is located at 445 Columbus Ave. (between 81st and 82nd Streets). Ghostlight Records has announced the release of the Original London Cast Recording of Stephen Schwartz's WORKING on Friday, March 2. The album is being released following a hugely successful run at Southwark Playhouse, directed by Luke Sheppard in Summer 2017. This will be the first recording of WORKING since the Original Broadway Cast Recording in 1978 and will feature never before released tracks by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The Atlanta Opera presents its most exciting season to date in 2018-19. Renowned Broadway, West End and film actress Caroline O'Connor will star as Anna in the first London revival in 20 years of Kander and Ebb's THE RINK, having understudied the role of Angel in the 1988 London production of the show. The new production of THE RINK will play at Southwark Playhouse for a limited season from 25 May to 23 June 2018, with a national press night on Tuesday 29 May. The role of Angel, along with further casting is to be announced.
