The production stars Colin Mochrie (Whose Line is It Anyway?, CTV/ ABC) as Serge, Peter Donaldson (And So It Goes, Factory; Hysteria, Canadian Stage) as Marc and Evan Buliung (Cloud 9, Mirvish Productions; The House of Martin Guerre, Canadian Stage) as Yvan and is directed by Morris Panych (7 Stories, The Overcoat, Canadian Stage). 'Art' runs March 15 to April 10, 2010 (media night: March 18) at the Bluma Appel Theatre, 27 Front Street East, Toronto.
'This is the future' begins what the DCA describes as a 'darkly comic fable' about the failures of urban development. If this is the future, then I guess we're all going to be stuck in EPCOT. Sure! Cities have problems, but its citizens, even the poor ones, are glossy and every social ill is wrapped up in a pretty unrealistic way. This city is not Chicago. In fact, I can't imagine this city as any city in the United States or Canada for that fact. Even Toronto can't be this goody-goody! This play promised a comic exploration of the themes of Plato's Republic but delivers nothing except the playwright's soap box (as evident by the final scene). Was this really written by one of Canada's most celebrated playwrights?

Toronto's The Stratford Shakespeare Festival has revealed revealed additional casting for its 2010 season. The stars include Christopher Plummer, Chilina Kennedy, Juan Chioran, Michael Therriault and Geraint Wyn Davies for the Festival's productions of The Tempest, Evita, Kiss Me Kate, Peter Pan and Do Not Go Gentle. Nikki M. James, who was previously set to star alongside Plummer has withdrawn from the festival due to 'personal reasons.'

Performances will begin on Tuesday, September 8th; opening on Sunday, September 20th and will run through October 11th, 2009 at the McGinn Cazale Theatre (2162 Broadway, 4th floor at 76th Street).
