Women's Project Presents World Premiere of WE PLAY FOR THE GODS, 6/1-6/23

Women's Project will end its 34th season with an off-Broadway show of epic proportions when seven playwrights, four directors, three producers and five actors collaborate on one world premiere play titled from the famous Ellen Stewart quote We Play for The Gods. We Play for The Gods stars Annie Golden, Amber Gray, Alexandra Henrikson, Irene Sofia Lucio and Erika Rolfsud. It begins performances Friday, June 1, at 8:00pm, opens Monday, June 11, at 7:30pm for a run through Saturday, June 23, at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street.

Berkeley Rep Adds DEAR ELIZABETH and FALLACI to Season

Today Tony Taccone, artistic director of Berkeley Repertory Theatre, revealed two new plays that he's selected to complete the Tony Award-winning nonprofit's 45th season. In keeping with its reputation for debuting smart and adventurous shows, the Theatre presents the world premiere of Fallaci, written by Lawrence Wright and directed by Gregory Mosher, and the West Coast premiere of Dear Elizabeth, the latest collaboration from Sarah Ruhl and Les Waters.

Peter C. Alderman Foundation Honors Eve Ensler Tonight, 4/30

The Peter C. Alderman Foundation (PCAF) was founded by Elizabeth and Dr. Stephen Alderman in 2003 in memory of their 25-year-old son Peter, who was murdered by terrorists on September 11, 2001, as he attended a conference at the World Trade Center. PCAF, a 501c3, was established to provide mental healthcare to people whose psyches are scarred by violence and trauma due to civil war, ethnic cleansing or genocide - including victims of atrocities in northern Uganda following the LRA's and Joseph Kony's reign of terror.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre to Give Away 3,000 Tickets to EMOTIONAL CREATURE

Today, Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced that it's giving away 3,000 free tickets for the world premiere of Eve Ensler's Emotional Creature in June. The Tony Award-winning theatre will deliver the free tickets to fellow nonprofit organizations and to government agencies that serve key constituencies, including at-risk youth, teens and young adults of both genders, and abuse victims of all ages, with priority given to groups that serve women and girls.

In celebration of the upcoming world premiere of Eve Ensler's Emotional Creature, which consists of original monologues about and for girls, Berkeley Repertory Theatre offers a host of new courses this spring that allow students of all ages to share their personal stories. At Berkeley Rep's School of Theatre, teens can take Writing Monologues with Melissa Hillman; adults can mine their lives for stories with Joel ben Izzy or get a primer on Solo Performance with Sara Felder; and school kids can act out their favorite fables in a class on Fairy Tales and Adventures with Erica Blue. And there are dozens of other classes as well!
