Music Mountain Presents a Labor Day Benefit Concert Featuring Peter Serkin and More

Mark your concert calendars for an extraordinary weekend at Music Mountain, America's longest running summer chamber music festival! The incomparable pianist, Peter Serkin performs Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven with four guest artists on Sunday, September 2 (3pm) as part of Music Mountain's Labor Day Benefit Concert & Reception. The weekend gets off to a celebratory start on Saturday, September 1 (6:30pm) with Gabriel Alegria Afro-Peruvian Sextet playing the rhythm-saturated sounds of Latin jazz! Concerts are scheduled through September 23.

Harris Center to Present Keyboard Conversations With Jeffrey Siegel

With an enthusiasm that is contagious, world-class credentials and an astounding virtuosity, Jeffrey Siegel returns to Stage One with Keyboard Conversations. Launching his 2018-19 series of engagements (his eighth at the Harris Center) with a commemoration of Rachmaninoff and Debussy, Mr. Siegel will offer comments on these two beloved composers, and then give a virtuosic performance of several piano masterpieces. His August program will include the famous C Sharp Minor Prelude, Clair de lune, and stirring Etudes of both composers; a lively Q&A will follow. 'A musical bridge-builder in action..Siegel showed just how illuminating the combination of words and abstract music can be' (Toronto Star).

6th Annual Philadelphia Young Pianists' Festival Launches New Speaker & Masterclass Series

Introducing more education opportunities students, this year Ching-Yun Hu, Founder and Director of the Philadelphia Young Pianists' Academy (PYPA), has created a series of lectures with special guests that are open to the public. A highlight of the series is the return of the highly revered pianist Gary Graffman who will instruct three classes and industry professionals Jonathan Eifert and Pierre van der Westhuizen will focus on career planning, programming choices, using technology for publicity and more.

6th Philadelphia Young Pianists' Academy Festival Announced for 8/5 - 8/12

The Philadelphia Young Pianists' Academy (PYPA) will be celebrating its sixth year as an international event from August 5 through August 12, 2018. They are inaugurating a new home for the experience at the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts located at 1920 Spruce St in Philadelphia. There will be eight days of concerts by world-class pianists, master classes by some of the most highly respected pianists and professors and student concerts. Founder Ching-Yun Hu is pleased to expand the program this year with more concerts and a speaker series.

Pianist Misha Dichter will appear in chamber music program with violinist Mark Peskanov and cellist Julian Schwarz as part of the Bargemusic Masterworks Series, Today evening, May 26, 2018 at 6 pm and Sunday afternoon, May 27, 2018 at 4 pm, featuring the New York premieres and world premiere of Gerard Schwarz's Three Duos for violin and cello. The program will also include Schubert's Piano Trio in B-Flat Major, D. 898 (Op. 99).

Key Pianists Presents Celebrated Artists Misha & Cipa Dichter at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall

Entering the sixth decade of a noted global career, pianist Misha Dichter will be presented by the Key Pianists concert series on Wednesday evening, February 21st, 2018 at 7:30 pm at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Mr. Dichter's program will feature solo piano works by Schubert and Scriabin; he will be joined by his wife-pianist Cipa Dichter-in piano duets by Schubert and Copland.

The program includes Saint Saen's eerie Dance Macabre, Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night Dream, Scriabin's exultant Fourth Piano Sonata, Bartok's mysterious Night Music, and glorious Nocturnes of Chopin.

Music Director Osmo Vänskä Extends Contract with Minnesota Orchestra

The Minnesota Orchestra announced today that Music Director Osmo Vanska has signed a new three-year contract which will extend his leadership of the Minnesota Orchestra through its 2021-22 season and bring his tenure to 19 years?a length equaled only by founding Music Director Emil Oberhoffer and sixth Music Director Stanislaw Skrowaczewski.

American pianist Jeffrey Siegel has been a soloist with the world's great orchestras and has collaborated with many of the pre-eminent conductors of our time. In presenting these "concerts with lively commentary" Mr. Siegel offers comments on the work, the composer, even the times in which the work was composed and then gives a virtuosic performance of a piano masterpiece.
