New London Barn Playhouse Announces 42ND STREET

After barking with laughter at Sylvia, the New London Barn Playhouse invites you to the Great White Way in its heyday with the timeless classic 42nd Street, running July 18 - August 5, 7:30PM with Wednesday matinee performances at 2:00PM and Sunday matinee performances at 5:00PM.

The Rainbow Theatre Project's 2015/16 Generation Q Staged Reading Series closes with a presentation the award-winning Jeffrey by Paul Rudnick. The reading takes place Monday, May 16, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at Source in the District.

The Alden Awards Scholarships to Young Performers

The Alden in McLean awarded scholarships to six local high school students for successfully competing in the 2016 James C. Macdonald Performing Arts Scholarship Competition. Following a preliminary audition and a final completion at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 16, the prizes were presented by MCC Governing Board Chair Paul Kohlenberger and The Alden's Director of Youth Programs Kathleen Herr. A division of the McLean Community Center, The Alden is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

Olney Theatre Center, a Mid-Atlantic destination for professional theater performance and education, concludes its critically-acclaimed 76thAnniversary season with the area professional premiere of the 'Under the Sea' musical, Disney's The Little Mermaid, November 12 - December 28, 2014 on the Mainstage. Starring Helen Hayes Award-winner Donna Migliaccio and newcomer Lara Zinn, the classic musical features memorable songs such as 'A Part of Your World' and 'Poor Unfortunate Souls' as well as the Academy Award®-Winning Best Original Song 'Under the Sea'.

15 Local Students Awarded Fine Arts Scholarships by The Alden

Fifteen high school students received scholarships for successfully competing in the 2014 James C. Macdonald Fine Arts Scholarship Competition. Sponsored by The Alden at the McLean Community Center (MCC), the final competition was held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27. MCC Governing Board Vice Chair Susan Bourgeois and Alden Director of Youth Programs Kathleen Herr presented the awards at the final competition-performance.

This year, The Alden in McLean is celebrating Halloween with the screening of two scary movies, something old and something relatively new. The celebration begins at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Oct. 30, with the 1920 classic film 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.' Tickets are $10, $6 for MCC district residents. On Saturday, Nov. 2, at 8 p.m., the theatre will show 2011's 'Tucker and Dale vs. Evil.' Admission is free. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.
