Photo Flash: Stars Turn Out for LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards' Red Carpet & Ceremony

The 24th Annual LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards, celebrating theatrical excellence and achievement during the 2013 season, were presented on Sunday, November 3 at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse Thirty-five awards were bestowed upon 13 different Southern California theatre companies. Leading the pack with 12 was Center Theatre Group (seven for The Nether at the Kirk Douglas Theatre; three for Joe Turner's Come and Gone at the Mark Taper Forum; one for The Scottsboro Boys at the Ahmanson Theatre; and one for The Royale at the Kirk Douglas Theatre). CTG was followed by 3-D Theatricals with five awards (four for Parade and one for Shrek the Musical). The Chance Theater and La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts took home three awards each (including Best Season for La Mirada); Circle X Theatre Company, the Fountain Theatre, and the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble tied with two each. PARADE, SHREK & More Win Big at LA's Ovation Awards

JERSEY BOYS Cast Member Miles Aubrey Joins Film Adaptation

Miles Aubrey will be playing the role of 'Charlie Calello' in the upcoming film adaptation of the musical JERSEY BOYS, directed by Clint Eastwood, BroadwayWorld has confirmed. Miles was in the original first national touring company of JERSEY BOYS and is currently a five year member of the Broadway company, playing the role of Norm Waxman.

Stage Actress Heather Pond Joins JERSEY BOYS Film

Heather Pond (formally Heather Ferguson) will be reprising her role as 'Miss Frankie Nolan' in the upcoming film adaptation of the musical JERSEY BOYS, directed by Clint Eastwood. Heather was in the original Broadway company of JERSEY BOYS and spent five years with the show.

ANYTHING GOES Makes OC Premiere at Segerstrom Center, Now thru 9/29

The national tour of Roundabout Theatre Company's ANYTHING GOES, the new Broadway revival of Cole Porter's timeless classic musical theatre masterpiece, will make its Orange County premiere tonight, September 24 - 29 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts as part of the Curtain Call Series.

Erich Bergen to Play 'Bob Gaudio' in JERSEY BOYS Film Adaptation

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Erich Bergen will reprise his critically acclaimed portrayal of Bob Gaudio in the film version of Jersey Boys, directed by Clint Eastwood. Bergen played the role in the First National Tour, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas casts of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical.

Jeremy Luke & Joey Russo Sign on for JERSEY BOYS Film

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jeremy Luke and Joey Russo have signed on to join the cast of Clint Eastwood's upcoming big screen adaptation of Jersey Boys. Russo will star as 'Joe 'Joey' Pesci,' who helped create the Four Seasons and Luke will play a loan shark named 'Donnie.'

The event should have been titled '520 Mondays.' On Monday, July 1, Birdland celebrated the tenth anniversary of 'Jim Caruso's Cast Party,' the unique and very extreme weekly open mic. Gianni Valenti, the owner of the historic music room, honored host Caruso with a Seth Walters portrait on the wall, usually reserved for jazz icons. (Caruso quipped, 'Somewhere, Charlie Parker is very uncomfortable.')

Joining Edward Watts (Superman) in the New York City Center Encores! production of It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman will be Jenny Powers as Lois Lane and David Pittu as the evil Dr. Sedgwick, along with Erich Bergen, Alli Mauzey, James Saito and Will Swenson. Superman will play at City Center for seven performances, tonight, March 20 - 24, and will be directed by John Rando with choreography by Joshua Bergasse and music direction by Rob Berman.
